Hope not :( ££££££££s to repair. I've ordered a new glow plug control module. Guessing the plugs would need to get hot to ignite the fuel first touch of the key, hot or cold. I think I'm starting the car just on compression and heat build up from the long cranking. Hope so. This car was a good...
I've been under my 100 today looking for the TDC sensor. I took the undertray off and looked everywhere but couldn't find it. It's not at 12 o'clock on the bellhousing like other Clios. Where exactly is it? The problem I'm trying to cure is hard starting needing 2 long cranks on a hot or cold...
Count the teeth and buy the correct ring on e-bay for about a fiver. You can DIY but a garage will charge about an hours labour to do it if you're not sure. Don't go to a Renault garage as they will tell you that you need a complete new driveshaft and that the rings can't be got on their own !
Press the end of the wiper stalk and it will move to the trip meter. Then press the button under the milometer to reset to zero. Press the end of the wiper stalk repeatedly and it will go through the functions, reset to zero as before.
No, not remapped, don't feel the need. This little car is more than adequate to play with (and sometimes embarrass) the big boys. Lots of low down grunt and go kart handling :)
I got my DCi 100 with 140k miles on it too. I got full service history with it but I'm still working through it, refreshing everything. Smoke when you boot it is common and has been dicussed at length on here. I had it and I've changed the fuel filter, EGR valve and put some injector cleaner...
But you could see "entering power safe mode"? So something's happening. Try tapping F8 as it boots up and see if you can get the boot options to come up (it's usually F8 on most computers). If you can, choose "last configuration that worked" and see if you can get it to boot properly. :)
Mine was doing the same. A new EGR valve seems to have cured it. £60 on E-bay exactly the same as the old one. Easy DIY swap. Didn't bother with cleaning it as it was 10 years old and done 140k miles so was, probably, needing replacing. I've put a pot of Wynns injector cleaner in this week...
Sounds like a duff battery. Halfrauds will test it and fit a new one in a few minutes, if needed, so no point in faffing around with a dodgy battery :)
Before you do/spend anything check the connector to the motor (the black and red wires in the pic) is good and clean. That's how I fixed my non-working fan some time ago and it's still going strong :approve:
