Just fitted a new 75A valeo alternator to my 172 cup, and it seems to be discharging the battery when the ignition is off.
The battery has discharged from 12v to 3v when parked up for 3 days
The alternator charges at 14.1v but a can hear it humming under the bonnet when the ignition is...
Check the level of your pas fluid, mine did this, the power steering sensor was leaking and the fluid was low.
New sensor, new fluid, problem has now gone away.
Fluid was dexron II from Halfords
Check to see if you have condensation in the spark plug wells, i had this last week. Dried up the leads/plugs and the problem is solved. Try this before spending money on coil packs/leads/injectors etc.
I have these, if fitted properly, they do not cause extra vibration when on the move.
But they do increase vibration at idle and when sitting at traffic lights they can be unpleasant.
I am used to them now, but after driving the works van, it feels a bit overkill.
If i was doing it again, i...
Can anyone tell me the spring rates for H&R coilovers for the 172, compared to Bilstein B14's please.
I believe that the Bilsteins run 70nm front and 40nm rear.
I know that H&R use the Bilstein struts, but specify different spring rates.
I would like to know how much softer they are, as my...
Sorry, i have just seen the ebay advert and spoken to the guy on the phone. There was mention of a flatspot and the cracked log manifold, and it needs a new bonnet if you are fussy. I guess ktec must have mapped the standard ecu when it was installed. The car does drive and is running, how well...
I just had a look at this, not a bad base car to do further work on.
Realistically its going to need putting on a gen 90 and mapping, i would imagine that would cost £1500.
If you already own a clio, its probably better to do what clio172T has done, rings, new clutch, new turbo and a...
I bought them a few months ago, they came off a set off pro race 1.2 wheels that had run for 500 miles, they have 7mm at least.
Quite surprised as i was expecting them to be PS3's. I'm really wondering if they are superior to PS3's, as i was very disappointed in them; as far as wear was concerned.
I find the pzero nero better on my cup than the michelin ps3. I think that the michelins are overpriced for the grip that they offer.
The michelins lasted 4500 miles on the front and whilst good in a downpour, i didn't think they offered anything special in the dry and the compound seemed soft...
Ben, rebuild costs are £80 +vat per strut. My turnaround was 2 working days.
Car is now good as new now, definately worth rebuilding. They are not unique in needing a rebuild, very much like the sachs.
The renault system is very restrictive to keep the noise down, i believe the centre section and cat flow well, but the backbox is the bottleneck.
I think Danny at 519 runs a 21/4" system on his itb 172, he doesn't like exhaust noise.
Having run both 21/4 and 21/2" centre sections, i could not...
I would really have liked to buy a BTB ninja, but they were far more expensive, and i don't think many were produced.
I think that may have been a perfect replacement for the renault exhaust, excellent build quality and no droning.
It really depends if you can tolerate an exhaust that is...
Bill, shame your so far away from prospeed. I much prefer mine to my old BTB.
The fabrication is not as good, but its not made on a jig and will be done in three hours.
If you don't like the noise, charlie is more than happy to adapt it to your requirements. I went back twice to get it to my...
