Turns out the car wasn't starting due a corroded cable in the wiring loom under the relays and this a apparently a common fault? So be warned as this has cost me about a days labour for them to find the broken cable and fix it.

Looks like its not the starter motor? Will let you know what it is when I do!

Car is being collected this morning and off to the garage to get sorted! Will let you know of the outcome!

Battery reads over 12 volts off and engine on? Have no idea how to reach the others to check them? Give up with it now, just need to try and start it to get it to a garage!

ok, well the gear change light flickers when I turn the car on aswell, but not everytime?

try jumping it from another car, still no luck? where is a the starter motor?
