182 to be owner from Leicestershire

Hi all,
Bought a 182 today and picking up Monday morning, replacement for my current daily which is rather past it's sell by date and fancied somthing fun, cheap and not a gas guzzler so it fits the bill perfectly! I've also got an FD RX7 which believe it or not I don't use daily for obvious reasons :wink:

Anyway here's some pics of both the Clio and the rx7 for your viewing pleasure

So here's how today went for me....
After organising with the garage on Saturday to pick the car up today my missis booked half a day and I was on afternoons so worked out well, woke up early to get there for 10am a 70 mile round trip meaning I would get to work in time from picking the car up, I'd already sold my old daily yesterday so had no car other than the Rex, anyway, gave the garage a call at 9am to let them know we were on the way to pick the car up when he said I'm sorry but someone from London is on the train on the way to view the car, if you can get here before him it's yours..... instantly raging and in all honestly feeling sorry for this other chap from London I jumped in the car and blasted up the m1, 5 miles from the garage and we receive a call saying that the owner said it isn't fair on the guy on the train to come all this way and not see the car! I told him how I felt and drove all the way home.
Just as we pull onto the drive not knowing what to do as I had no car and having to resort to using the rx7 temporarily we revive another text, 'do you still want the clio'
Instantly called him up and he said the guy didn't want it and went for a 197 Clio instead, although raging I kept a calm head and said yes I do and once again drove the 35 mile trip there, got there in a right cafufle! So I thought right, time to play this idiot at his own game, I picked every tiny fault possible and said I'll take it but £500 off the original price we agreed for the hassle and balls up, he reluctantly agreed and then his dad (the boss) piped up saying how this is how businesses work..! I'll not bore you with the rest of the story but I ranted and left with the car and was very late for work. But you know... that's how business's work [emoji849]

So back on topic! The car is brilliant! A great car and in perfect condition, just needs wheel refurb on two wheels and that's it really, not sure how the missis will react to the mods I already have planned as I promised I wouldn't especially as I sink so much money into the bloody jap car [emoji23] hey ho

Anyway, pics to follow tomorrow morning with a nice wash on the cards [emoji1360]

I officially love this car [emoji23] they are bloody fantastic! It's made me want to sell the RX7 and turn this into my weekend toy! Might be the fact I've not pulled the old girl out the garage in some months due to the English winter however the handling is sublime! Has a lot more power than I thought it would have and really does go well and sound well at the same time, properly hooked and I've convinced the missis to let me mod it haha, time to open a project thread I think [emoji1362]

Do get under your skin. I'm on my 105th, it feels like it.

LOVE the rx, reminds of the the old gran turismo days. Bit stupid of the garage to book two viewings. I used to manage a bicycle shop and had it happen a couple of times where 2 people wanted the same bike, can get awkward if not handled properly... Did he give you a discount for messing you about?? They're great little cars with character and a seeming ability to make you spend time and cash on them, much to the better half's annoyance . Ps this is a great forum for tips, info and parts!

Good on you for getting some money off. I'd have been absolutely livid and probably would have left it. I hate being messed around like that.

I was really peed with the garage although I was desperate for a decent 182 or a car in general to be honest! Glad I went for it though it seems brilliant so far, get work out the way this week and I can then plan out which direction to take it

Won't be going the coilovers route, so looking into lowering springs as it does 70 miles a day, will be grabbing some at the weekend hopefully
