Another busy weekend! When you've changed everything and get a weekend that doesn't need to be spent under a clio what the bloody hell will you do with yourself?

Decision made. Sunstrip removed.

I liked it, was something a bit different to the normal RB. Still looks decent with it removed though.

Good update Mark, you must be well chuffed to get the clutch in! You said it feels ok with the new one? That's a bummer about the new issue but hopefully not a tooooo bad fix! The 'confused' photo is good 😂

P.S. does look better with the sunstrip off, made the right choice but well worth having a go and seeing what it looked like

Thanks for the positive comments guys

@182_steve The clutch feels really good Steve. Today a few times I pushed down on the clutch pedal harder than it should need, purely because my old one was so hard!

Agree about the sunstrip. I like the look of them, but beacuse it's not a track car or even a "clubspec" car, it doesn't really need it. I'd been thinking about removing it for a while. End of the day it was only £10 and if I decide I want it again, then it doesn't break the bank.

I do have these still. I thought about putting the renault sport one across the top, in the middle. The sticker is only 8" or so. Maybe.....

Another option is to have a Cliosport.net one there instead. I've had these on my previous clios here and its the only forum/club im with. (I was on CSOC for a bit but left as it wasn't really for me. I personally prefer it here )

Still looking awesome Mark, one of the best manufacturer colours ever! Apart from trying to polish the lacquer!

Yeah I get that with the clutch! But that's a good thing that it's clearly not as hardcore as the old one with what you said about the pedal! Good job done! As for the stickers, that could work! This is what I've done with mine, excuse the huge pic of the rear end but it's the only one I have showing the sticker...... just cliosport and the url. Just an idea!

Ordered myself a new keyring the other day. If you know, you know! :eek:penmouth:

The car was in dire need of a wash. The farmer had he's jetwash i out, so i used it after him, along with a bucket and sponge.

32814072762_3ba07eeefb_z.jpg

Much better! Then last night i decided to stay after work and fit my handbrake cables that i've been putting off for a while, due to laziness.

32587561950_f3e89a81f5_z.jpg

In work and all jacked up.

I probably didnt need to jack it up this high, but this way i had a lot of room and didn't hit my head once!

I started to drop the exhaust to get to the handbrake adjuster that was under the center section heat shield. Once that was done, i undo the adjuster nuts to take all the slack off, the i removed the cables from the handbrake adjuster bracket, then pulled them out of the lining sleeve, passed all the clips and off the back of the caliper. Everything came apart really easy and it wasn't a hard job tbh.

Old cables removed.

32814032432_4d29b1b36a_z.jpg

And next to the genuine replacements

32968401955_e2d3610e5c_z.jpg

Part numbers, should anyone need it. Left hand side:

Right hand side:

32814021162_487acdc5e7_z.jpg

Then i fitted the new ones in the reverse effect, adjusting the handbrake nut bit by bit until i was happy with the pull feel.

32814014062_ea31b2702f_z.jpg

While the car was in the air i decided to remove the adjusters to lower the rear ride height. I only wanted it slightly lower. I did remove them completely but thought it looked too low so i just kept the adjuster rings fitted and removed the adjusters themselves.

32153711393_595625a1ba_z.jpg

Adjusters removed.

32153697373_68844becae_z.jpg

Rings and protector sleeve fitted.

32153706743_af7abf6261_z.jpg

32153702183_52f24ce64e_z.jpg

Ive got some rubber spring seats coming so the ring isn't on the bodywork. This will protect it a bit better but hopefully wont change the visual height off what it is atm.

All done. I gave it a quick detailer too.

Looking crap with only 1 exhaust surround. I'll get it back off Alex soon, so it doesnt look so pikey!

32843514801_1fd401bf27_z.jpg

Then i decided that i will see what it looks like with my Renault sport sticker fitted. as @MrBlonde said, it can always be removed. They was just sitting in the tool box so might as well try them.

That was it for last night. This morning i took the bumper off so i could take a quick pic for @Louis' of how my carbon cannister lid is. Needs a clean which i will do soon, but you get the idea.

Then i took a few quick snaps.

Thank you guys

Snappy retrimmed wheel and the interior is pretty much there. I do have another clock bezel to paint as this one has rippled ever so slightly. Most would probably skip it, but i know it's there and it bugs me. I may also change the CD player to a mechless one at a later date but im happy with it for now

I also have this to fit:

32154662153_26aed73a05_z.jpg

New genuine bearing (again) from Paul Templeton @renaultpartsdirect as i dont think my newly fitted one will come out easily. Arrived nice and quickly too. Thanks mate.

Got a hub coming from @Coops Turbo so once that turns up, I will remove the old bearing, press the new one in, sandblast and paint the hub as before then remove my old one and fit this. Then alignment again!

I have a rear bearing hum still. I originally thought it was the front but was hard to hear where it was coming from and having changed the discs last year I didn't think it was that. Obviously ive changed the fronts and the humming is still present so I will order a set of rear discs of @George@RTR_Parts. Should be spot on after that.

I do however keep thinking of getting some PMS top mounts as i hate seeing the holes in the turrets from the old Ktec ones, now that I have standard ones fitted. We shall see though.

Great update Mark, thanks a lot for the pictures! The guide style handbrake replacement will definitely help when it comes to doing mine but it looks pretty self explanatory really, think rusty bolts will be the main issue.
Am I right in saying that you've also blocked off the fuel breather with a bolt? Looks that way on the pipe next to the solenoid. I'll have a look tomorrow if the suns shining to try sort mine. Really liking what you've done with the fogs too, never noticed before but it doesn't look like you're running piping all the way through to your brakes? I might be wrong though.

Sorry @Louis' I didnt see this reply until now!

Yes i believe i have, but it was a while ago now and i cant fully remember. Next time i take the bumper off, i'll double check for you as that pic above is a bit crap.

Yeah i did the meshed bass port ducts last year. Always liked the look of the fogless ph2s but don't like seeing all the inserts behind them. I thought this was a nice touch, yet still subtle. An no, i dont run any pipework.

Haha, no worries mate. I think i'll leave mine just to vent as I havn't smelt any petrol smells inside the car anyway (besides the ones the decat used to like to let in).
I gave your thread a quick read the other day from the beginning and saw the making of your ducts which I am now shamelessly copying. Got the bass ports for about £3 posted...

Happy days mate!

Where are you getting the mesh from? Ebay? Im thinking of doing mine again with proper black anodised mesh rather than my painted ones and making the mesh more towards the bumper so its a tad more visible

I hadn't really looked properly to be honest. I had thought about maybe using just a speaker grill of the same ID as the bass port, but had struggled to find some. Would have been nice and easy to just slot in and glue, i'm not sure how resilient it would have been though.

Something like this, but smaller. http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=TUFFGR12&gclid=CMeA2riGsdICFcfgGwodbeIMVw

Few more jobs tackled recently.

These 2 turned up from @midge so i stayed after work to put the rubbers in on the b14 spring adjuster rings to protect them against the bodywork.

I still had a bearing whine after changing the front bearings so i ordered some rear discs from @George@RTR_Parts and some genuine rear spacers too as i was unsure of the condition mine would have been in. I decided to keep the rear hub nylocs though as they've only been fitted once so they would still be in great condition. Awesome service as per usual, keeping me updated and them turning up next day! He even chucked in one of the front disc retaining screws at my request for free after i fucked my one up from the seized hub. Thanks again mate

So once again, after work i set about fitting them!

32959018692_ea6c766957_z.jpg

32299968123_457638d54c_z.jpg

Being loctighted in, the studs took a bit of persuasion, but nothing the double nut trick couldn't sort out. I had to use wheel nuts as we have no m12x1.5 nuts at work, only 1.75 pitch.

32733058780_e8ff05a011_z.jpg

All out.

32733069190_fd1653ab6f_z.jpg

Pads have loads of life still.

32270374584_7287641832_z.jpg

Old discs removed.

32959134432_211862e966_z.jpg

Gave the new ones a like of paint, added the locktight onto the studs and fitted them into the new discs and gave them a quick spray with some black paint as a top coat. Was not bothered about it going on the disc face as it would get removed once i'd driven down the road.

Genuine disc spacers.

32988737881_b8a00a1a99_z.jpg

And fitted. Tapered side towards the center of the car, flat side towards the bearings/back on the disc.

32299799753_bbf8ea0377_z.jpg

Torqued up to 175nm.

All done.
