Passenger door won't open

  Clio 182
Hi all.

The passenger side door on my Clio 182 doesn't open most of the time. When you lift the handle up it seems very loose and obviously isn't catching when it's supposed to. Weirdly, it works around 20% of the time. Any ideas?

Cheers

The handle is linked to the door mechanism by a metal rod held in place by plastic retainers. My guess is one of the clips has broken and the resultant play in the rod means the door only opens some of the time.

does it lock? had an issue with my drivers door where the connector wasnt secure on the door lock actuator, fault was intermittant too. hope this helps.

get it sorted while you can still get it open. if it finally goes, you may not be able to get the interior trim off with the door closed

Can you open it from the inside?

I can open my door from the inside (to unlock it) then I can use the door as normal, however when the door's are locked again, by the key, or the RAID system, the door needs to be opened from the inside again.

I took the door apart at the weekend with a member off here, but we couldn't understand it for love nor money :(

im not sure if they have a boden cable like the bmw but im mine this had stretched, it had been ajusted by a pikey garage who had made it too tight but then the door would randomly pop open when u were driving... new cable was £6 from bmw so dont understand why they bodged it but hey ho

Yep. Replace the locking mech. Takes no more than 10 minutes once the door card is off. It's basically a failure of the lock release. Hence the physical boden cable from the inside working.

Bought it from a member, came off a breaking car. There's about 9,000* cars breaking at the moment, best bet would be to pop down to a member who's taking one apart and put it in yours as you take it out the other one.

*slight exaggeration

I paid about £15 I think.

Yep. Same issue I had.

Although it sounds like you've changed the part I fitted already? Does the rest of the central locking still work? If not maybe you've just blown the fuse?
Yeah i've changed the part, also its only the drivers door thats playing up! [emoji88] I've also checked all the fuses!

Its highly annoying me! [emoji52]
