LY Clio 197 F1

Well I need to take my hat off to the boys at SWR in Stirling (Scotland) who are just amazing.

As some of you guys know I went to Stornaway a few weeks ago to pick up my LY 197 F1 and I have now spent £1000+ on getting stuff sorted and even then there is more work needed.

So it was away for the following work with all genuine Renault parts.

Timing Belt Kit
Aux Belt Kit
Dephaser
Water Pump
Thermostat
New Coolant
Oil Filter
Air Filter
Pollen Filter
Spark Plugs
Radiator (Had a hole in it the size of a £2.00 Coin)
Fresh Coolant
Fresh Oil
A/C Recharged
Rocker Cover Sealed
VVT Seal
Air Temp Sensor

Air box was all refitted as it had a induction kit on it.
All parts where vapour blasted.

That inlet manifold looks amazing! Where did you get it done from if you don't mind me asking and was it powder coated or painted?

No, Nothing is painted or powder coated. Its vapour blasted with ceramic dust and warm water and it brings it back to the above (Better than standard)
I have had bits done on my 182 and they have not rusted or or anodised either.

Was done by a friend who has a vapour blasting both but enough to put a full size motorbike in

That's a great list of work to have done already, expensive, but worth every penny for the peace of mind that it's all sorted and sorted properly  Not heard of vapour blasting before but the results speak for themselves there!!

Absolutely love the vapour blasted stuff.
Just wondered if you had to mask the renault sport logon piece on this or if it comes off by prying?

Well some more progress on the LY with some bad news but I'm getting there.

First I had a badly cracked scuttle panel so managed to get a good second hand one to change it and thought while I was in there I would clean under there and my X5 steam mop came in handy for this one.
As the car has been on an island for a good few years there is alot of sand blocking holes all over the place.

After doing the above the front seats had to come out the car as they are away for a full re-trim in black leather and alcantara from a very top end company (Transcal - Livingston UK)
So I started to clean the interior of the car with the seats out and noticed a wet patch at the back footwell, Well I have had to rip the whole carpet out and all the foam as it had around 2"s of water in the footwell and the mould was unreal.

The foam has been replaced, The carpet has been fully cleaned and dried out and all the mould has been scrubbed down with a brush and thin bleach, The whole car has been steam cleaned with the X5 steam mop and wiped down.

Here is some pictures of what I found.

Great work so far with this, that steam mop gives VERY good results!! Gutting about the mould, that's pretty grim, but sounds like it's getting there :up:

It is a pain but as the seats are out its all worth it as i now have the chance to scrub the car from top to bottom.
I have cooked my X5 steam mop so its now back to scrubbing by hand

That's a good point actually, thank goodness you didn't find the issue later on after the seats have gone back in!! Least you know its all done and sorted now, and properly!

Some more work carried out on the Clio.
Took the rubber off round the boot and cleaned all that along with the rear lights and everything else that was in there, Once again I managed to use the X5 Steam mop with is amazing for doing this sort of stuff.

Bloody hell, you don't hang about! I just know by the time you're done it'll look factory fresh, but probably better than that!!

nice work mate

when you say you use the X5 mop thing, does it come with a bunch of accessories to get to the harder to reach bits or you just using the shoot some steam at the fecker technique for areas like the boot shut etc?

X5 steam mop comes with attachments and a small hose, it's the steam that does the work so asking at its getting / hitting the dirt it wipes away , in my case I also have a decent compressor and a good airline so I can blow stuff out also and dry the parts I can't reach with my finger

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Looking great

Personally I would put some mk3 projector lights or xenons on there to replace the standard ones- they look so much better :)

The sh*t just went crazy.

So we bought the car like this with the drivers seat in very very bad condition and then so dirty is was cringe just to even sit in them as pictured below.

So bought a genuine Recaro CS Seat cover from capital seating and as it came with the Recaro logo it was £52.

Then after weeks of looking, getting samples and playing about this happened

Absolutely sexual. Those are so so classy. with leather bolsters should last a lot longer than the renault crate paper oem bolsters.

More of an update today, Managed to get the seats Temp fitted so I could move the car and get it up on Axel stands and get the wheel arches out.
The passenger front rear section was smashed to bits and there was virtually nothing these so managed to get a good intact second hand one.

I was also going to attempt to take the 197 rear diffuser off but a couple of the bolts holding it on where very very rusty and I did not want to snap or break them so I will use some tigers pi$$ (WD40) on them over the next few days and give them some wire brush treatment also.

Here is todays pictures (With seats temp fitted also)

Love it.

I've missed whether you said before but are you fitting projector lights, the cup spoiler and renualtsport splitter?

Projector headlights would be nice, Cup spoiler is a no unless I get another LY boot and I would like to fit the RS bumper splitter but I dont want to start drilling, clipping and gluing stuff on.
