Help with Clio cup!

  GOLF GT TDI
Hi all
Right car guys need some help / advice on Clio Cup Race Car, need to get more power from it, people have said you can tune it others say you can't, it's a fully race spec car thats used in the support races with a Sedev sequential gear box just need some solid proof of anything can be done. The race series allows 260bhp per ton we are at 206bhp we are currently up against Ford Festas STs which are running close to 260bhp, we can keep up fine on the corners etc but soon as we are on the straights they pull away and we run out of puff, anyone got any suggestions?

Many thanks

Forced induction has got to be the way forward i reckon.

If you can get the weight to as close as 1000kg's and drop a Megane 250 engine in maybe? Unsure how attainable that is in the Mk3's!?

Ahh yeah I suppose so. That's a hell of alot of ££££. Deep pockets needed then.

True enough! The previous 2.0 16v one was severley restricted at 150bhp!

When i had mine the air filter was the same size as a PS4 case !!! The amount of pipework it ran through added up to 2M IIRC ! Its crossed over the engine twice before getting to the TB.

Great car once improved.

Sorry to hijack, which fiesta ST are you taking about when you say it was severely restricted at 150bhp?

Hi all
After a bit of research I have spoken to the guys from RSport who do the cup conversions apparently they did a Clio rally car, our ECU is locked and cannot really be modified, but the Clio Rally runs bewtwen 230-250bhp after a lengthy chat he's told us that if we change the pistons, cams etc we should be able to see the same sort of power as they can then play with the ECU to match this but will need to run on race fuel so this could potentially be the route to go :/

Oh and race fuel?! I ran mine on shell vpower and made 230bhp and 181lb/ft. Did they tell you the cost of the parts as well btw? R3 maxi and maxi evo stuff ain't cheap!
