Wheels look spot on.
Your door strips, have the standard "textured" ones been painted or are they smooth? The standard logo badge in them is a nice touch actually, breaks the colour up.

I think the layers of paint have smoothed them off although if I'm honest I haven't looked that closely!! Lol!

Right, cracked on today with a few jobs I wanted to do to the car.
First job was to remove the solid engine mounts, engine side, gearbox side and dogbone

in bits:

Dephaser looking pretty new

Standard mount going on

DSC_1602_zpsgf5psip9.jpg

Didn't get any more pics at this point but back together again! Refitted a few missing bolts from loom and power steering pipes so all secure again too

DSC_1609_zpsqpepqxyu.jpg

Then took an easy job on and fitted the painted (satin black) rear wiper trim and popped the wiper back on, much better!

DSC_1608_zpsuybiaqgx.jpg

Next was headlight swap for ones I bought other day from @Akay which are in much better condition, believe they may of been on @Phase1sr 's old phase 1 back in the day before he fitted new.
So bumper off first

old hazy lights off

front end in bits

then once again no pics as I was progressing, just cracked on and also refitted the fogs after painting the surrounds in satin black also. The new lights came with low beam HID's as well so kept them and the silvertec is it indicator bulbs? either way just boshed the lot in!

DSC_1620_zpslfdpkwi9.jpg

Next job was to finish the freshen up with new plates, decided to go for the 3/4 front plate as well, although i will get a plain standard size front plate at some point also

And also got hold of a period minidisc head unit that i will use in the odyssey for a while until i finally sort the original tape deck unit for the car

IMG-20170304-WA0025_zpsrbhr2kez.jpg

need to get an aerial adaptor tomorrow as annoyingly it was missing and i dont have a spare, so once i have that i can fit the head unti fully

cheers!

What happened to the OZ F1 wheels? Am I the only person that thinks Williams wheels should stay on a Williams Clio..
Yes yes you are ;-)
They're not going anywhere I just hate them so they'll go back on be car when I sell it. I hate them nearly as much as 2118's

Great update it's the small things like fresh plates etc that all add up

Loving that mini disc headunit!! Only the 2nd ever one I've seen in a car after my mate had one in his sapphire cosworth, I just used to have a 'personal' one myself with earphones back in the day

You're always wrong with wheel choice though! Oz F1s are just simply phase 1...end of.

It's like taking willy wheels off a willy it's just wrong!

Agreed, killed the look of the car... Never understood why people fit willy wheels on a later Clio...

Okay, project engine bay tidy and interior tinker along with some other bits last weekend!

First job, bought a new number plate light and LED bulb, so fitted that:

DSC_1656_zpso3da5gsb.jpg

DSC_1659_zpsodegx5su.jpg

DSC_1662_zpsvnriqwv1.jpg

Then got a new hazard switch as the old one looked off, recessed indicator and all covered in glue or something, so had to go

DSC_1657_zps0ungw7u1.jpg

DSC_1660_zpsqkocyyu0.jpg

DSC_1661_zpslylpsmfs.jpg

Next dug some grey alloy wheel paint out the shed and removed the top inlet, fuel guard and cam belt cover from the car, I have another set of phase 1 stuff in the shed I will send off for vapour blasting back to original but for now fancied some colour (kind of) under the bonnet.

whilst the inlet was off I checked the ignition system over too, plugs, leads and coil pack all in spot on nick so no concerns there at all, happy! Fuelling looks good to from the deposits on the plugs, nice light brown and equal across all four. No.4 pot had the usual oil on threads from the over exuberant top ups but cleaned off and sorted

off and plug check

painted

and fitted, much fresher

DSC_1677_zpssgn32wgq.jpg

the rear heat wadding had gone all brown as well like they do, so I just grabbed a can of VHT black paint I had in the shed from doing the exhaust manifold for the track car and sprayed it black again, looks good enough for me tbh and miles better than all worn, as you can see here looks much better!

Quick update, pictureless but full of entertainment!

So decided to insure the phase 1 other day, added it to my adminral cover on the 182 for the princely sum of 130 quid to novemeber when the renewal on both will then be due. Taxed it on the pay later monthly scheme and sorted! Blumming 283 a year tax though, stupid 2001 car!

So got up like a kid on Christmas on Wednesday morning to use the car for work, with a plan to also use it Thursday for trip down to Birmingham for work too to stretch its legs. First thing, drive in to work, lovely!! great little car, now I've actually had chance to drive it I can say hand on heart all it needs mechanically is the gear linkage tweaking as I can get reverse instead of 1st without lifting the collar. Aside from that everything is mint and drives tight as a drum! Happy days!

After work, loaded car up with PC equipment for Birmingham and went climbing as I usually do, and the fun starts....After climbing it wont start, but not showing immobiliser issue as the lights on solid. So I fettle about for five mins under the bonnet, check all the usual suspects inc fuel pump relay and bang, she starts! sorted I think.
Pop to pick our lass up from here fitness class and wont start again, this time showing immobiliser issue, and to cut a long story short the key seems to of decoded itself.

Didn't have time to worry about it, so abandoned the car, less than a day on the road! flol! Stuck my s**t in mates car and he gave us a lift home. Trusty RB was used for Brum trip and on my return I took spare key back to the stricken phase 1. The car started......mint I thought! transferred some stuff between cars and was about to jump in it and it cut out, same issue and would no longer start! bugger!

I'd brought spare set from the track car with me though, so quick ten mins swapping ECU UCH, transponder etc and I was sorted but what a PITA

Not totally sorted either as although she's starting on the button, central locking all synced up and working etc I have engine management light on. Not sure why as spare setup is off a late model twin lambda car too, so I need a plugin!

Since then I have fixed couple of other niggles too, Stereo rewired so doesn't loose settings, oiled accelerator cable, checked and cleaned couple of earths and tidied up the UCH as i'd left it hanging down in my haste other night.

So plan is now to use the car again this week and see what else rears its ugly head!lol!!!

cheers

I'm currently doing a few bits on my engine bay, its very time consuming, mine is currently in pieces!

I just need to pain the cam cover & the rocker cover and then I'm done......for now!

Stick with it, always bit alarming dismantling the engine but worth it with a bit of patience :)

more bits acquired in 'no longer project standard' odyssey of doom!

decided as its not a daily car currently, I would add some more bolt on mods for a giggle, so acquired some vmaxx coilovers for next to nothing. Not exactly great suspension but aim here is just to 'go low' for a bit as imo phase 1's look mega on their arses!

dismantled them when I got them and gave them a good clean up. will also give them a lick of paint before fitting!

in bits:

DSC_1722_zps3imc9yml.jpg

and cleaned up, ran the threads on the front as well top to bottom to clean them off. I will then set to the right height, grease under the platforms at that height and paint the rest to keep it looking neater.

Got hold of an engine cover in decent nick, so fitted that with stainless bolt kit

DSC_1776_zpsdoucvtqs_edit_1490647442138_zpss5qafu6r.jpg

DSC_1780_zps8tejnfgr.jpg

fitted, excuse the lack of ECU brackets, off to be painted after the ecu swap other week!

DSC_1783_zpsb0agoh2k.jpg

DSC_1782_zpsuki78zzs.jpg

Then decided I reckon a colour coded cover would look better, so whipped the ropey one off the RB, swapped the oil cover flaps as one on the cover off the RB was better than new one, so made a 'good' cover and then painted up the ropey one in Odyssey. not the best job but cheap and cheerful and looks okay. Had the 2.0 sticker ready as well so easy enough to crack on and sort. It's now sat inside the house, curing to fit at the weekend more than likely.

Cap painted with sticker

DSC_1792_zpsgqfwbjrk.jpg

DSC_1795_zpszwk40qjv.jpg

DSC_1797_zpsro4wkcc1.jpg

I have also got some 10mm stub spacers, 15mm eibach hubcentric front spacers and the loops for the boot net ready.

So plan this weekend is to:
- fit boot loops and boot net
- fit engine cover
- paint and refit ecu brackets
- fit coilovers
- fit spacers front and rear
- marvel at the awesome

cheers

This is looking great Ben, looking forward to seeing it on the new suspension, what colour did you paint the top inlet, fuel guard and cam belt cover?

More progress today now the nights are longer!
I want to clean the arches etc when I fit the coilovers so decided against fitting them today but did the rear axle spacers and top engine mount insert though so that's done!
That means provided weather holds Saturday I can have a nice fun day fitting coilies and cleaning, fettling ride height etc. looking forward to it!

so today, horrible job of rear axle spacers as the torx bolts holding the hubs to the axle are a bugger to get out without rounding them, sensibly took my time though and they came out okay on both sides, no angle grinder needed!!

Bolts out and hub loose

New stuff to fit, 10mm stub spacers

DSC_1829_zpsgibybjt7.jpg

Fitted

DSC_1830_zpsg6xucctm.jpg

15mm eibach hubcentric fronts and longer tpi bolts, from stock in the shed ;-)

DSC_1832_zps1jsxoskr.jpg

Then no mount insert

DSC_1838_zps9xijkst1.jpg

Mount with insert

DSC_1839_zpsmtxld9gy.jpg

Fitted with new engine cover as well

DSC_1840_zpsbaccssvg.jpg

DSC_1841_zpstesipoas.jpg

And how it sits now, so that's 15mm front spacers and 10mm rears and wheels are ET36, should look spot on once loose the arch gap with the coilies...woop woop!!

and I then removed and cleaned the boot carpet as previous owner has had a dog in the car and the boot is covered in hair and smell......interesting shall we say!!lol! nothing a stiff brush, few litres of H2O and some fabric softener can't sort :)

anyway, more pics!!

lol! no worries at all chap, I'm particularly OCD when it comes to this sort of thing, everyone always mentions how 'clean' my knackered old cars always smell inside. so when others can smell nothing I can! lol!!
