Steves Arctic 182

  Golf Gti edition 30
Thought i would start a thread on my new clio 182 since i sold my high boost clio 182 in January.Ive actually had this one sitting in the garage since last summer when i bought it off my brother but just recently decided what to do with it a few weeks ago and what ive decided is.......to plough a load of cash into it lol
This one is going to be fairly standard though but want it really clean.
It was bought by my brother back in sept 2014 from an older couple in their 60s near glasgow who had owned the car from new and it only had 20k on the clock with fsh and was totally standard.Up untill last summer he had done a few bits to it like the scorpion rs192 exhaust, michelin ps3 tyres all round, vibratecnics engine mounts, powerflex dogbone mount, cooksport springs and a snappy steering wheel. It now has 29k on the clock.
Heres a few pics of it....

Ace car, don't think I've ever seen a ff 182 on mileage as low as that!

Are you taking it to clioturbo for a turbo conversion mate?

It looks great, but why sell the high boost one for a standard one?

Im thinking about doing the same lol.

So recently pulled it out the garage where its been sitting for months and although the car itself is in very good condition the front brakes, suspension, steering components were quite rusty
IMG_0011.JPG

So ive been spending free time at the weekends pulling everything off while also on a spending spree and now have and partly fitted...

Brembo hc discs, mintex 1144 pads, superblue fluid, goodridge black brakelines, callipers just back from bigg red, hubs blasted and painted, new wheelbearings, new abs rings, new abs sensors, driveshafts painted, wishbones powdercoated with powerflex bushes, new balljoints, new tie rods, new track rod ends, new ball joints, powerflex anti roll bar bushes, powerdercoated cooksport springs and the gearbox oil changed after fitting the driveshafts back on.
Also have a battery cover and airbox bolts ready to fit thanks to MarcR.Have also replaced all the bolts around the slam panel and wings with black stainless steel ones.
Heres some of the rusty parts removed

Lol no thats the last place this car would ever go.I didnt like the thought after the bodges i was finding on it that how long is it till it goes badly wrong and i would have a big bill and have to find a specialist up my way for it plus trips down to efi parts. Also it was always on my mind when i had it out...is today the day my gearbox blows up lol

Nearly forgot ive also bought these and are sitting in the garage. Will put them on the way they are first and see if i like the silver finish against the arctic blue before i get them powdercoated either plain silver or light anthracite then get my michelins swapped over from the standard wheels.

This looks stunning  I thought mine was quite low at 71,000 miles haha! To get one with such low miles and one mature owner, that's got to be really rare now and very much worth spending the money on! Will enjoy seeing the updates on this, great attention to detail so far.

In regards to the silver Turini's mentioned above, just to give you an idea of what it might look like, here's mine.... freshly re-furbed in silver!

Got everything all fitted today and the car finally out the garage and moving again.Need to get it in for its tracking and mot now.Have pretty much replaced everything under the arches apart from the dampers and is really letting it all down in there.Still undecided wither to get new cup dampers or spend a bit more. Will get it out on the road first and decide.

Also got the newly trimmed gearknob and gaitor back on today :)

Well spotted.Had a mechanic pal come round and go over everything for piece of mind before getting it off the axle stands and he picked it up so has been swapped over.

Looks very tidy! I keep meaning to get my 'white' seat belts cleaned as they're filthy

Decided to get the turinis powdercoated and recieved them back today but its not went to plan.

I asked for them in a standard light anthacite finish like this
IMG_0575.JPG

But got them in this dark grey matt finish
IMG_0668.JPG

IMG_0663.JPG

Told him when i dropped them off with a standard anthacite 182 alloy that they definitely cant be darker so when i picked them up he said they turned out darker so wasnt sure but took them away to try but not happy at all now ive tried them on.They are back off the car and away to get dropped back off tomorrow and told i want them redone as its not what i asked for.

Yeah was surprised when i popped in today to see if they were any further forward with the colour and that they were ready.Thought it would be next week till i got them back.Much happier with the turinis now. Will get its tax and mot in just over a week at the start of april and finally get it on the road at the weekends.
