Galaxy S8

I just ordered mine on a 24 month contract. It will be the first curved edge phone I've had. What are the best screen protectors for them? I'm guessing there won't be many out yet. I'm not bothered about a case

Gorilla glass still scratches. My S6 which is meant to be Gorilla glass has fine scratches all over. The wifes old S8 which has now been replaced was also covered in fine scratches too!

The dust from out sandschool was a killer for phone screens.

Yeah my s6 has some faint scratches but they piss all over apple etc for holding up to abuse.

I've had Samsung, apple, lg and now back on apple. I've never had a problem with any of the screens scratching, and I've also never had a screen protector. What do you people do with your phones?!

Yeah my s6 ones are only faint under sunlight. Nothing major! Its all the dust from the sand school TBH! Its in a case though which has saved its shiny sides a few times!!

I'm loving the screen on this phone. What an upgrade from my 5S. It feels so nice too

The only thing that is bugging me is the button for bixby. I keep pressing it in my pocket and it turns the screen on. It's not like when you accidentally press the power button and it goes off after a few seconds. It stays on as if it is unlocked

I downloaded one today and all of the options weren't anything I wanted to happen without me knowing. Opening apps, task manager, turning on the torch, camera etc

Cant say I have had too many problems with the Bixby button. Bixby is a bit annoying at this stage as I dont seem to have a clue wtf it is or is good for.
I had a few issues when i went to CPW on friday to buy a case for my S8 - I bought a Gear4 case and a Jagg tempered glass screen protector. I got the staff to put the screen cover on as i know i would mess it up. They got it on and then put the Gear4 case on. as soon as I went to type on the screen the screen cover would pop off. Turns out the gear4 cases arent compatible with screen protectors. I ended up buying the genuine samsung Alcantara phone case which I must say is lovely to hold and looks so classy but is still good for shock protection.

Over all I am happy with the phone. It is a bit bigger than Id like (had a sony xperia compact before) and am still getting used to typing on it .

Does anyone know how to get the comma to be available on the keyboard without having to push the function key.

I prefer the Google keyboard after a few years using swift key.

Any chance of a photo of this @optical ?

I saw it on their web site a month or so ago and wondered what it would be like as the other cases seemed a bit overkill

I usually cannot stand cases / screen protectors but my S6 edge has just given up in less than 2 years without any protection etc, so perhaps its time to get some if I go for an S8.

Just can't make the choice between S7 Edge or S8 tbh as I loved my S6 Edge

My missus has a S7 and my brother has an S7 Edge, I'd much rather have a S7 after using both for decent periods of time.

The alcantara case is brilliant. It looks really good and feels lovely in your hand. very much recommended by me.

Stay the f**k away from a ZAGG screen protector. They sell them in carphone warehouse. Ive got one and my keyboard is so unresponsive its bordering on unusable. I keep meaning to take it back for a refund if that is even possible. I have a feeling most screen protectors may be the same if they are tempered glass and curved at the edges.

Ooh matches the clio interior too
I'm after an s8 I think as my galaxy note 2 is on its last legs even though it's still brilliant for its age. Been tempted by the new one plus 5 that's arriving soon though...

Sorry no just between the 7's - I don't like how it stretches the screen - if the 8's are anything like that I don't think I'll be bothering!
I agree. The Edge part of the phone is shite - I cant see the point of it personally. If there was a choice I would have a flat S8 any day.
Screen stretch isnt noticeable really.

I have a S6 and bought a £2 screen protector from Primark because I was a cheap student and didn't want to pay anymore! At home we have a marble floor in the conservatory and during a rage whilst gaming my phone ended up going 5ft in the air and landing straight on the floor. Queue mini-heart attack as I watched it bounce a few times before landing on its screen. I pick it up, peeling away my cheap cover only to reveal the screen in perfect condition and the protector shattered. Needless to say I went straight back to Primark and picked up another! A few months later (I promise I'm not clumsy and very rarely drop my phone!), but I dropped it again (at football I think) onto concrete from my pocket, same thing. Best £2 I've ever spent. Primark have the best protectors I promise you that much!
Also has no effect on the response of the screen, highly recommended!

Some of the edge apps are quite useful.

Been using the s8 for a while. Don't think it's a massive upgrade from the s7, but the iris scanner is very clever. Forgotten I'd activated it, went to put my card details into a website last night, as they're stored on the phone it asked for fingerprint or iris. By the time I'd picked the phone up, it had done the oris scan before I could even attempt to use the fingerprint.

What are people's thoughts on this:

S8+ 64gb
10gb data, unlimited mins and texts
£42.00 a month 24 months, no upfront payment.

Hows everyone getting on with their s8/s8+?

Where was that from? My missus upgrades tomorrow and is going plus so it's a bit different from the s6 edge she has.

Was an email from mobile phones direct, not sure if the offer is live on the site or not yet but I've placed my order and it's getting delivered tomorrow!

Decent enough contract.

I'm loving mine. The only issue I'm having is gmail sometimes not noticing new emails, even when I refresh in the app. Also when I delete an email in the app it doesn't always happen. It's weird because the gmail ios app worked perfectly
