Rockstar make some fantastic games and I can't wait for this to be released but I'm getting pretty sick of them delaying every single game they announce.

The game industry takes the piss quite a lot of the time.

You've obviously no idea the time and effort put into these games. It's a complete guess on an exact release date. I think there's worse things to be worried about than getting worked up about a delayed release date

I can appreciate how much work there is and I can assure you I'm not worked up about it.

But I don't agree that a company as experienced as rockstar isn't capable of giving a release date that is realistic, and it's by no means the first time they've done it. It is purely a marketing technique

It's not always the case mate. Red Dead 2 is a big and ambitious sequel and the amount of developers and resources being thrown at it is staggering. I think it will be quite a special game once it's finally released. Rockstar have the enviable position of being able to decide (to some degree) when to release. They are successful, well known, trusted to deliver and have a good wedge of money in the bank. Once they have a clearer picture of where they are going with the title then I'm sure they'll announce something. It's not your average AAA title. If there is such a thing!

I really hope your right and it's something special, the first was brilliant.
I appreciate you know more about what goes on with the development of these titles, it's your industry I think? It just seems so common for games to be delayed, IMO they shouldn't be giving release dates until they're fairy certain. 6 months isn't a minor delay!

It's better if they delay the release and have a properly sorted game that doesn't requires multiple patches to fix it tbf.

Having played through RDR last year, I must say I prefer the GTA series, although this does look amazing.

There needs to be.

I gave up on the original on the 360 as I couldn't aim for s**t using a pad. With K&M inputs however - now then......
I tend to still use a pad as I'm s**t at aiming with a mouse lol, but the slightly better graphics and 60fps upwards makes the gameplay so much better, and for that alone I really hope they bring it to PC. I have a funny feeling they'll do the same as what happened with GTA V though and release the PC version after.

I don't work full-time in the games industry any more (but did indeed spend over 10 years doing so). I just dip in and out with a bit of advice / work on graphics technology here and there these days, although would love to return to it full-time one day. But I digress... yeah, 6 months is not a minor delay but it's not a lot of time in terms of the development, testing, QA, submission / approval, etc. on a title of this scale and magnitude. I agree it's frustrating as a consumer, but I also can appreciate why they are doing it. Two close friends of mine are working on this title (along with a few former colleagues) and, despite remaining quite tight-lipped about it, they are incredibly passionate and excited for what's coming. Trust me, that's a very good sign  I hear on the grapevine that this sequel has been on the cards since shortly after the release of the original game, although other titles (I forget their names) kinda got in the way. It's only really been the last couple of years or so where ideas, story and tech for the game have started ramping up. Obviously it's full-steam ahead now though. Like a lot of people, I have high hopes for this so fingers crossed!
