Clio 182 Detailing Project

So last week after spending an age looking for a 197 or 200 (Used to have an FF 197 years ago and after buying a house decided I wanted another toy) I totally changed my plan of attack and decided to get a detailing project.

This 182 turned up for sale in Blackburn, all belts/pump/dephaser done, but cosmetically a bit rough and needing some mechanical work (brakes etc)

Future plans are new disks and pads, 3 stage the rest of the paintwork, paint the grills gloss black and a wheel refurb in a light anthracite.

Love your work so far. The headlights came out perfectly and its such a messy job, splatter everywhere. Great pictures.
Can you let me know what pad this is and how it differs from foam pads:

Looks so nice when cleaned properly, what did you use on the black plastic in and around the engine bay?

Auto Finesse Revive to treat it, then coated it with Autoglym silicone spray for protection.

Its a micro fibre pad my detailing friend gave me to try, I was using auto finesse foam pads but they make a right mess with dust... the microfibres don't leave any mess at all. I can't remember what brand it is, I'll find out and post soon.

Hope to see you and the car at Cliosport festival - there is a show and shine competition if you are interested.

Wish I could, believe I am doing the NC500 drive round Scotland that week (in my GT Line 1.9DCi Megane Coupe, not the Clio)

Looking great already, are you a detailer by trade?
Not yet... just an avid enthusiast at the moment.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I'll try and get some photo's on this weekend.
Recent progress, completed the 3 stage polish, still not 100% happy but its miles better than when it arrived!
The wheels have been to Platinum Coatings in Manchester, now an anthracite finish, just awaiting getting the centre caps and door bullets back.
I've also just placed an order for a retrimmed steering wheel with Royal Steering Wheels, this should be with me in 1 - 2 weeks (nappa leather top and sides, thumb grips in perforated leather, bottom section in grey alcantara, blue stitching and blue centre marker)

Just sprayed the front grills with plasti kote satin black this weekend, looking much better!

Still awaiting the return of the centre caps and door bullets, today hoovered and started to wet vac the interior, only done the drivers side so far.

Mega excited to get my retrimmed wheel from Royal.

Looks great, so clean. Get your belts in some Vanish and give them a blast as well, will come up like new.

Is Plasti Kote like Plasti Dip where it's like a rubber kind of coating or is it a brand and just normal satin spray paint? Really need to do mine.

Yep and me ref the grill.

I tried solution finish again but its just not working, needs spraying. Assuming you removed the grill or was it in situ?

So are you planning on setting up shop then? The car looks bloody great mate, you could make it work with those skills. You can start on my interior if you want, it certainly needs it!

Its just a satin paint, £7 a tin from amazon, did barely any prep before using it.

Yeah removed the grills, not brave enough to do it in situ!

I'm thinking about doing training with Autoglym (its the brand everyone knows) and Autobrite for rotory use and paint depth etc, but yeah I think thats going to happen in the not so distant future.

Happy to give your interior a deep clean.

Been a little busy recently, I'm fairly happy with the exterior of the clio now.
The pressed plates I've replaced with gel plates and finally fitted the steering wheel, the interior still needs a bit of work... and some recaro's if I can find the right ones!
Door shuts next.

Went to the local car meet in Wray village (Lancashire) on Thursday night and a drive out with my friend in his Caterham (blue one), its held every 3rd thursday of the month, it'd be good to see some fellow Clio owners next time!
