AcidicDavey's Liquid Yellow 182!

No update in over 2 months? Crikey, I'm still here

Not a great deal has happened with the car tbh other than the miles racking up. In fact, hit a magic number last weekend

I'm such a saddo :tongueout:

Also noticed the rear number plate light had a broken clip and was dangling, no one likes a dangler... As you can see a new light was a bit overdue anyway, only £8.94 brand new and delivered off eBay.

Finally got round to changing the boot locking solenoid too, yes, the boot has never locked during my ownership lol, now it does!!

That's it, got nothing else to update. This time of year is no fun, I hate it, I have been considering selling the car as I won't be using it from the 1st onwards, try to keep it out of danger of the bad roads at this horrible time of year.
Buuut, I love this car, selling it is probably not a good idea at all so I think I'm just going to stop driving it instead and hold onto it for the spring
I've got a different car to use through the winter already, an old Fiat Bravo HGT that owes me about £150 lol

Anyway, have some more photos...

As you can see in the background I had a MK5 Golf GTi 'in', wow, that was hard to sell, enough said!

My reason for considering selling it is that I just don't enjoy seeing it get all dirty and subjected to the bad weather etc hence why I'm about to stop using it.

If I was to sell it I think I would regret it but I already have 3 cars I refuse to sell, looks like this has became the 4th keeper, I need more room!
Another reason to keep it is because I got it so cheap (for a LY) and I'll never find one that cheap again :p

As you lot will know now, I'm quite jammy when it comes to cars. Let me tell you about the Fiat...
It was fate, picking it up. I saw it advertised locally on Facebook but I missed out on it due to a set of bad circumstances but it was bought by a FB 'trader' who is always swapping his bangers and he just so happened to the next day offer this very car as a swap for my absolute banger of a MK4 Golf GTi Turbo I picked up from auction a few days before. Happy days.

My other yellow '182'. Fiat Bravo's chassis code is 182, seriously lol

Bravo HGT 15-11-16 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr

Not quick no but I love a 5 pot, and when you remember it only owes me £150/160 or so then even better. Only 43 HGTs left taxed on the roads, only 17 are the later 155 model like mine. It's a bit embarrassing but I'm pleased with it.

Haha I love that fact about the 182 code on the Fiat! Cool little car for sod all money, perfect winter hack

What made the Golf GTi so bad and worth so little? In the pic it's a Mk5 isn't it!?

I know right, I couldn't believe it myself when I discovered the 182, really made me laugh. I'll put a photo up in the next couple of days.

Oh no, the Golf was worth a few quid, just so difficult to sell as it had issues. You know what people are like, the advert had the problems listed and it was priced appropriately but they were coming and bargaining down based on those issues already mentioned. Guy won it for £2300 on eBay came here and offered £1400 for it lol *sigh...

Photos of it here if you care :p
https://www.flickr.com/photos/83938051@N08/albums/72157673495036222

I can not remember the last time a saw a HGT and in Yellow! very rare, i'd end up using the Clio as a daily and minting up the Fiat lol

It certainly is a rare beastie :). It's nice and I will be using it and improving it, I care about any car I have so it is in safe hands.

The bravo looks tidy, does it all work?

It all works other than the air con. Fairly tidy and no sign of underside rust at all, surprisingly clean infact. It does have very minor bubbling on a couple of the arches as they are full of mud.
Driver's seat bolster is torn other wise inside is good.

I do like the car but it is a bit embarrassing imo, it probably gives the impression that I can't afford something better haha
Luckily I don't care too much about what others think and I'm in it just for the noise :) (Love 5 cylinders).

I'll be putting photos of it here...

Oh I know that story very well, selling a very well described and advertised car only for someone to get here and start the usual crap.......... nice one for getting it away in the end!
Some people eh? Made a small profit at the end of my torture too so wasn't too bad.

Just realised I made an error in this thread with the cost of the Fiat, it actually works out at £130-140 not £150-160 lol bargain

LY 182 29-11-16 Garaged by AcidicDavey, on Flickr

During my ownership with the car I've had plenty of people asking to buy it, had a mutual friend on FB tonight ask if I was going to sell it, you're too late and I've just tucked it away haha

I know it's not the only one (surely) but I've never seen another without a Cup spoiler.
I have been keeping an eye out for one but I'm only prepared to buy one at the bottom of the market as I'll have to paint it obviously. :p

  Fiesta ST200
What a lovely little car, great work. I'm also on the hunt for a LY 182 to keep as a project so when you want to sell, please PM me!

Let me know if you ever sell the Bravo, love old Italian cars.

Well the Bravo will be offered for sale shortly, it has to go!
____________

Yes, I finally have this car out of hibernation!

The MOT was due on the Fiat 20/04 but sadly I've had to let it expire due to the fact that last weekend I was changing the rear brake discs and pads but the caliper was leaking on removal so no brakes :(. I had to get a car on the road immediately so here we are.

Man I've missed this car! I thought the Fiat felt grown up in comparison but as soon as I got back in this I realised how refined this car is by comparison, seriously! OK, terrible driving position and a heavy clutch but oh well.

All is well with the car, it survived the rest in the garage well other than a spider melting to the roof :p
Interior was a bit mouldy on the surface.

The airbag light came on today #frenchcarproblems

I'll put some photos up soon.

Really pleased I didn't sell it!

About time I updated this again I guess.

Really enjoying the car, as I said last time I'm so pleased I held onto it. OK, it keeps needing work and is slowly bleeding me dry but this is quite normal as we know :p

First time I go to wash it after getting it out of the garage and it starts hailing! Not happy! :<

That's me all up to date now, in fact the spoiler went on today.

In the very near future the car will be having new suspension all around with Cooksports and wheel spacers etc, watch this space ;)

As you might have noticed I have quite a space problem currently. I sold the Fiat Bravo HGT and a few days later bought a mint one! Which is on eBay as we speak actually. Also got another sexy Alfa 166 as a donor for mine and other cars hidden away but more on them another time.

TTFN :)

Very nice!

Thank you sir.
Great addition with the spoiler, finishes off the back end perfectly. Why on earth wasn't it specced when the car was new!? lol!

Very smart car
The Cup spoiler was on my list for a long time but always thought it would be too costly to buy and paint, until this one came along :)
I felt like this was the only LY left without one haha

The original young lady that ordered the car was obviously only interested in paint...
Gorgeous car mate!
Cheers dude.
A perfect example, we'll kept Sir. But you sold the bravo and bought another? That's got to be the height of lunacy!
Nobody makes money selling fiats!
Well this one is a genuine peach :D
56k from new, very clean etc. One for the collector ;). It was a 10 hour round trip to go and collect it!

And yes, I did buy this purely as I felt there was money to be made on it :p

The dashboard on the Fiat looks like you could store a baby in it.

Clio is looking great.
Bahahahaha, you're right! The dash looks better with the 'airbag pack'.
10 hour round trip!! Wow....... sounds a decent car in the advert though, nice and original, low miles etc
Left at around 7pm and didn't get home until 5 in the morning! Bloody M4 was shut :<
So what did you make on it then @AcidicDavey ?
Here's a clue...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222493950586?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Incorrectly listed on eBay before you see ;)

£410!!! :fearscream: no wonder you jumped at that, I see it was listed under brochures, fail, but even so, if you wanted one and typed in Bravo HGT into eBay it would come up anyway due to the keywords so amazed how little it went for. If you were just randomly 'browsing' cars though yeah it wouldn't come up. Great stuff, fingers crossed it goes well.

Well the winning bidder collected the car this evening, a young lady in her 20s! That I didn't predict!
Had a Bravo 1.2 as her first car and fancied another to use as an occasional car. Happy days.

And you're right Steve, it wasn't impossible to find but if you search for vehicles like I normally do by defining the category that it might be harder to find.
In fact, the one bidder on the blue one was the winning bidder of my yellow one!. The yellow one ended 3 days before this blue one and once I won the blue one the guy said he didn't want my yellow one as he couldn't get it home as it had no MOT. You knew that before bidding you t**t. Isn't eBay fun sometimes?
With this blue one, when it was at £900 I had a message off someone asking if they could 'buy it now for £650?'. Hahaha, yes mate you can have it for £650 even though there is a week to go.

Anyway, back to the Clio, I have another on the way soon :D

Nice little profit on the Fiat there, nice one! Oh yeah eBay is full of time wasting idiots, I had my old E46 325i Sport on there a few weeks ago and someone hit the buy it now. Lovely! Then said it was a 'mistake' bla bla bla. That soo pee's me off, like it's that easy! Luckily I had someone local interested so he was able to go do one.......... ooooh as above, another clio?
