Replacing cigarette lighter with usb

Hopefully that link works. I'm on my phone so if it doesn't I'll correct it tomorrow at work. I had to file the hole down a bit after I took the cigarette lighter out but this let me get a really good tight fit.
I'm quite happy with the finish and it's working great. Also the rubber cover will stop it getting filled with dust and dirt etc when not being used.

I had to file down the hole that the cigarette lighter came out of to make the usb ports fit so if youve bought the same one you'll have to do the same.
Managed to get a really good tight fit so i didnt bother screwing the plastic ring on the underside after as it wasnt budging anyway

So I’ve bought one of Amazon (that Bozothenutter linked above) and I don’t think it comes with wires.
Is it ridiculous to think of using a few lengths of head unit remote wire to wire it up? Or would I have to pop to Maplin for some specific 12v stuff?

Don't you just pull the old fag lighter part out and use the plug to connect up the USB sockets?

I’ve just gotta crimp some terminals onto the existing fag lighter wires and plug them in.

Here’s the red one installed. The brightness is hard to gauge during the daytime, but it looks like it won’t be super bright at night, which is ideal really.
I think it’s worth saying that they supply a screw-on collar to affix the whole unit, but the underside of the cup holder tray doesn’t allow room for it. Just go easy on the filing and it’ll be a tight fit so won’t need the collar anyway. Also, if you didn’t want the rubber cover, that’s easily removable too.

Sorry to open a new thread, just wanted some advice on wiring, original lighter wires look like this:
New usb has 2 terminals, positive and negative, so question is which wires go to which terminal?
Is this correct?
Positive to yellow/pink
Negative to black/pink
Tape blue up
