That's mega mate, I know you've been looking forward to this do much, looks like you've got a fantastic day for it. Meanwhile on terra firma, looks like I'm probably going to be buying another of your old engines!
Cheers mate! Lol!! You just can't get enough!!
The guy who flies that was on radio 2 last week. Jammy bugger, sounds like he has the best job ever.
The pilot I had today was called Dave today and he was a proper nice guy! There were 3 pilots in total today taking people out for the flights.

Wow mate that looks awesome. [emoji41] [emoji106]
Words cannot describe just how f**king awesome that was!

Today, I flew a spitfire - as in I had the controls! Full report and pics will come in another thread, but for now, here's a pic of me getting strapped in! Parachute and harness!

This weekend the AG let me down. On Saturday I was going up to Donington park to watch @Ash-b-84 @Tony Hunter @@Josh & @Tom Johnson racing in the TARC. I jumped in the 200 and reversed out of the garage, then switched it off to close the garage door and put my daily driver golf tdi back on the drive. I went back to the 200, pressed the start/stop button and put my foot on the brake..........and f**k all happened! Lol! I got the jump leads out and pulled the tdi up to the 200. Still f**k all happening! You could hear a faint clicking, but the dash was buzzing like mad and various lights were coming on randomly. All very strange, so the AG was pushed into the garage and forgotten about until my return.

The racing was great as always, and legend of the day award has to go to Ashley. Lol!!

That'll be the aerocatches failing then. Like a true hero though, he carried on racing and only dropped one place!

So upon my return, I popped the bonnet on the AG and connected the battery charger. The indicator was showing half black, half green, so I was confident the battery was the reason the AG wouldn't start. Left it on charge overnight and was greeted with this
IMG_3996.JPG
One fully charged battery.............that's still fucked and wouldn't start the car! Must have a dead cell in it. It's the original battery, so it's not done bad I guess! The car is now sporting a new battery from Halfords and runs again.

Brakes ordered for the mtec/ds2500 replacement.

Congratulations! What you doing for BMW?

Doing BMW gearboxes now?

Congrats mate!! At Hams Hall?

I'm going to work as a technician for Sytner BMW gents. They've done me a really good package, so I'm off! No more nightshifts, no more heavy lifting or beating the s**t out of stuff with a hammer. I've been unhappy in my current job for quite some time now, and it was having a negative effect on my home life, not to mention my physical and mental health.

This will be a really positive step for me in my career, so I just couldn't turn it down. If you get 5 minutes, have a look at just how big the Sytner group is...... it's a real eye opener, and it's also part of the Penske Automotive Group!

Great news Mark, glad you found something new. A change is as good as a rest as they say!
Cheers mate. It's quite nerve wracking as I've worked in the same part of the industry (trucks) since I was 17, and the company I work at now for 12yrs. Now I'm moving on to a different way of doing things, so I anticipate I'll be like a fish out of water until I get settled in.

But..... Will you ever get those pesky indicators working?!

Fair play for actually doing something about your issues, so many people complain and just keep on doing the same thing.

I'm in the process of trying to get out of job that's making me feel like crap so I can fully understand why you're doing this.

It is mate, 7 miles away in fact! Lol! I'm venturing slightly further out though. Yeah they appear to be a company that cares about their employees, and they look after them. That's something quite rare in this day and age! They also have Porsche and Ferrari dealerships, so who knows where this could end up taking me. It's definitely going to be an interesting journey.

Great news Mark - I am glad you have found something buddy and even better you can keep the AG :)

I am also going through it at the moment - got 6 weeks left and the factory is shutting for good, also went through it 8 years ago.

P.M.A as I said earlier in this thread :)

Cheers Paul! Yeah good news all round in that respect.

Ah that's s**t mate. You got anything else to go to? Or are you still looking? Those rear discs will be off in a weeks time if you're still wanting them? Not the best of timing I guess!

Yeah PMA has definitely worked this time around.

Yes please can I still have them rear discs, its the last thing to do on the Storm and then its all done :)

As for the job front, I haven't looked yet but seem plenty of stuff out there and was after a bit of a break as being on 12 hours nights for 4 years means my body needs to have a good rest and get back to normality and hopefully better shifts :)

Yeah no problem mate, they have your name on them.

Amen to that! I've been doing 9hr nightshifts 5x a week for the past 12yrs, so I know exactly what you mean about needing a rest. I'm just counting down the days now.

Congrats on the new job, what a lovely change that will be!

I honestly don't know how you've managed to do nights for 12 bloody years!! I did them for less than a year and I felt ruined.

Congrats on the new job!

I noticed while searching that BigAsh had a metal power steering reservoir, do you know where I could get one of these? I take it with a bigger reservoir, the larger capacity will help with temperatures aswell?

Well thanks for taking the time to read all the way through buddy, and thanks for the kind words.

Yeah it wasn't something that I enjoyed at the time, but me and James can laugh about it now at least! Lol!

I'm glad I got rid of the mk2 tbh and bought the AG. It's a nicer place to be for a start, so that's always a bonus!

Yeah he ran a custom made fluid tank that was a larger capacity. The more oil you have, the longer it takes to get warmed up to the same level, but he still had issues from what I remember. He went to epas at the same time as me, so this was obviously ditched. You can get water cooled power steering fluid reservoirs from people like AH Fabrications, so worth a look if you're fancying going that route.

Cheers. Yeah definitely will.

It's easier to work permanent nights than doing the 6-2/2-10 shift, or at least I found it easier. At the time I had to do it to pay the bills as well, so needs must I guess!
