Rear hub swap

  182
Hi,
I want to put the 197/200 rear hubs on a 182. This is to mount the 197/200 break callipers. Will the hubs fit?

Has anyone tried this before?

Why would you want to do that, not really any advantage.

The rear hubs are part of the rear beam so they aren't removable I think.

Good question. I'd love to know this too.

@NorthloopCup and someone else developed a kit. Means you lose the abs but apparently the bearings last longer.
That was myself and @nath&alex that did that.

You'd need to look at the bolt pattern, but I'm pretty sure the 197's are more of a rectangular pattern. Easy to get around though tbf. Where the mounting plate is welded to the axle, cut it off and replace it with one to suit the 197 stud pattern. Simple. You can also raise it up (within reason) and gain a height reduction without even lowering it.

There's no way you can run the abs with this kit/setup though as the tooth count for the pick up is different.

I looked into machining the original rear discs to accept a larger bearing for better bearing life and retaining the abs. Just means a new stub axle is required, or machine the original down.

Noos has done it by the looks of it. But the calliper doesnt look like it's mounted in the same place ad a 197

Has he just made a custom bracket?
That way you could keep the standard set up

So if you wanted to keep the abs. The only thing you can do is make a custom bracket on the existing hub to mount the carrier...

Nothing, apart from they are easier to service. Sliding callipers always seize. The 197 callipers are smaller and look better.
