    Ktec racing coilover setup

The Ktec cheap coilovers? Notoriously softly spring and poorly damped so you’re unlikely I get an amazing setup whatever you try unfortunately. Are you running a small amount of rake (I.e the front ride height slightly lower than the rear)?

Back to the fold - Supercharged Clio 172 Track Car

What’s up with it? Funny thing is I keep debating going for a big power hike as I’ve spent all the money on handling mods.....but I’ve done 20 plus trackdays with no mechanical failures and all the funky bigger power cars always seem to have problems! Hope it’s an easy fix and you get back out...

Upgrade from Bilstein B14s - BCs? Much difference in DS/BR?

Ran BC’s, 8/8kg for the last 3 years now.....cracking suspension for the money I’d say. A little harder on the front needed for track only running proper Tyres! I also run northloop roll centre kit, PMS rear anti roll bar, solid top mounts and gripper diff’d box (also from northloop...

Where did you get them for £360? I paid more than that for the a048’s ?

The trials & tribulations of racing a Clio

Nice to see a thorough no expense spared approach to try and achieve reliability.....Car looks awesome! When I had my box rebuilt for gripper diff and meg 5th I didn’t realise you could buy a new box for around £800, not sure whether they’re just reconditioned though. Where do you source your...

    Dunlop DZ03G pealing/cracking/splitting

Done the same on several sets of those I’ve had, but I only run at Combe and it’s only ever the n/s front (as that’s the one that gets all the hammering). I run at 30 psi hot too, always put it down to my coilover sprig rates not being hard enough causing excessive lean on that tyre.....as you...

Last place to look if it’s weight saving you’re after tbh

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

Still keep an eye on all your updates Russ, such a cracking race Clio yours! All the right bits, not the usual rough round the edges race car and looks great in the videos......reliability is definitely key!! What are you going for engine/spec wise for next year out of interest? I keep...

Reducing heat in engine bay on track car

Mine did that on my first trackday. Replaced the fluid and run the reservoir on minimum and not had an issue since! Old fluid will boil easier.

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

This has always been my favourite Clio 'race car'.....drooled over it last time when you had it for sale. Awesome attention to detail with all the right bits on it and done to such a high standard! Nice work

How many trackdays out of A048s?

Fronts will last me two open pit days at Castle Combe, nearside tyre will be down to canvas after that.....fronts wear very quickly, rears will do 4 days fine. Does vary with how hard you drive the car and your suspension setup (as well as each circuit eating tyres at different rates). Awesome...

    Harness

You want fixed back bucket seats for safe harness use.....there's no potential of the seat folding up and potentially crushing you in the event of a crash.

Yoko AD08r track tyre review, after being on the track (Look worse for wear)

Don't know what the fuss is about.....look barely worn to me haha! Outside edge on the front will likely take a hammering, what camber are you running? Rubber on the tyres is just pickup from on track. Proper track rubber tears up far worse than that in no time......a set of yoko a048's fronts...

    AR1 Prices

Neither compare to Dunlop dz03g or Yokohama a048's.....at the prices they all seem to be now I'd go for either of them if you want the best performance!

    Coilover Spring Rates (Fast Road/Track)

It's only standard power but does lap well with all the handling mods! How many trackdays are you likely to do in reality compared with road driving? Personally I wouldn't get too hung up on going to crazy with spring rates if you're realistically doing a couple of days a year. The 5kg fronts...

    Coilover Spring Rates (Fast Road/Track)

I run 8/8kg with the bc's on a track only car....ran the 5kg springs up front first off which were ok but found them too soft pretty quickly. Both rates are fine on the road with the dampers turned down, the 5kg in particular were really quite compliant on the road! I'll go for heavier spring...

Safety devices roll cage mounting plates

Google for some pics, if you're making your own mounts you shouldn't need to though really....they're box section welded to the floor with captive nuts for the bolts to hold the cage down. You'll need to test fit the cage to find out locations/appropriate measurements for the box sections.

A048 road use?? Do they work

You're going off on a tangent to be honest, 99% of the guys asking the question on this forum just want to know if they can drive to and from trackdays on them, which of course they shouldn't really.

A048 road use?? Do they work

I don't think you're getting what I'm saying. If a tyre says 'competition use only' it's pretty clear that means NOT for road use, in my eyes anyway and as Yokohama intended when they changed them to motorsport sizing for their non road legal variants and market them for competition use only...

A048 road use?? Do they work

The law might be vague but the A048's I've got have got clear writing on the sidewall in capital letters saying 'Competition use only'.

A048 road use?? Do they work

Ahh I see, I only run the 195/50/15 equivalent which a friend of mine runs on several of his race cars and I get through him (via Tweeks) and that's just what he told me!

    Rear caliper & pad advice

I got a recon caliper for mine when it was binding, only about £80. Just go for standard discs and cheapo brembo pads, it's what I run on my track car and don't really see the need for anything better!
  24. D

A048 road use?? Do they work

They must be older tyres, Yokohama A048's are now for competition use only and not for road use....been like this since last year! I use them on track, awesome tyres but you'll never get the heat into them on the road to see the benefits in my opinion.

FAO Those With Existing Safety Devices Roll Cage, Msa Eligibilty

Thanks for the constructive reply mate, I looked back through and realised you'd asked that already now...my mistake! Just not seen others designed like that, and as safety devices say not strictly necessary at the moment but good practise. May look at swapping mine over for the new design next...

FAO Those With Existing Safety Devices Roll Cage, Msa Eligibilty

Looks quite different design wise to the old model, not sure I like that it still incorporates the dash dodging design though.....wonder why that's necessary? Is there no box section for the feet to sit on now too? Either way, nicely put together bolt in cage to be fair!

RC8 Pads/ abs Delete On Track Car Locking Up

When I first fitted rc6 pads so not at the same level as the 8's even....the first session and certainly few laps the brakes felt ridiculously grabby and kept locking up/couldn't seem to brake progressively but once they needed in they were absolutely fine with good initial bite but not the...
