Silver 172 cup anyone? cheap at £4,300

That was mine - sold this evening to superfastdan on here. Cheers for the bump though! Enjoy it Dan - it's a great car.

    Silver 172 Cup on Ebay

I've had a bit of a nightmare selling my car so far, so it's now on ebay for a very low price as I just want to bring this to an end. It's taken ages but for no apparent reason - no private buyers have even been to see it at all yet! Two local traders made me tolerable offers last weekend...

    172 front undertray thingy

Yep - I just checked with renault and they said £26.84 plus VAT. I guess Dick Turpin works there nowadays! Is there anywhere cheaper for bits like that?

    Which to do?

Spend the £170 on a track day instead - much more like it!

    172 front undertray thingy

Hi The plastic undertray between my splitter/spoiler and the bottom of my radiator is broken. How much are these new? Renault only part? Easy to fit? Cheers Tom.

That is a lovely machine. I've been on track with a few and they look and sound great. Perfect for a trip to the ring...

    cup suspension

Yep, they are different but still cheap. They get knackered easily - just relace them both yourself, it's an easy job.

Leaving car in gear instead of handbrake and it moved ! !

lower gear = engine has to turn more for every turn of the road wheels, therefore less likely to roll away. If you leave it in reverse and for some reason your car moved forwards (eg really really steep hill, or maybe hit from behind) then your engine will be turning the wrong way, which is...

    these tyres any gd?

F1s are waaay to soft to use on track though if you have anything like that in mind. You'd melt them in half a day, which is why I fitted T1Rs instead. CBA spending £££ on PE2s to knacker them on track.

KTR drilled rear disc's BAD NEWS...!

Can't believe the disc in that pic was left on long enough to crack - knackered old piece of p00 which was only using about half the contact area!

    Cup Tracking/Alignment

they run a fair bit of neg camber IIRC. Mine goes all over the shop on cambers, white lines etc. Same both sides, just the way they are. Mine's on Sportlines which might not help, and Toyo T1Rs which seem to hunt around more than my spare 888s do.

    Spax RSX coilovers

Anyone tried them? They look promising for the money. I've got Sportlines on at the minute and thought it could make for a good combo. Opinions please!

    Nurburgring Sticker

"You'll have to explain why a nurburgring sticker is a boy racer sticker. Man racers ftw." Lol - I've been round and got the sticker and I'm pretty sure I fall in to the boy racer category. It's not like any of us on here are VLN champs driving thoroughbred cars...

    Nurburgring Sticker

FWIW the only time I like having the sticker on my car is when I'm on my way there or back so that you can hook up with people doing the same. The rest of the time I just think it's a bit embarassing - on UK track days it creates the impression that you are a bit of a numpty IMO and I'm sure the...

    DS2500s - pap? - situation + problem!!

Have you glazed the pads (prob front) somehow? Or got grease on them when you fitted them etc? Just a thought.

KTR drilled rear disc's BAD NEWS...!

ISTR that discs should never be drilled post-production or it really seriously weakens them.

Ding. GSF were £64 for mine I think, just ring up to make sure they've got them and go in and pick them up.

cheers Fred - like one degree tiny tiny tiny or less/more?

    Colway F2 tyres

I looked in to this a while back but ended up going for 888s instead as the F2s weren't supposed to be very durable on track - apparently meant more as a stage tyre. Allegedly also a bit inconsistent due to being retreads. Never tried them myself, but that's what I heard. A similar alternative...

    toe-in on 172 Cup?

Evening all, I'm going to take my Cup in to get the tracking done soon - what should the toe-in be set at? It's on Eibach Sportlines and spends a fair bit of time on track on 888s if that makes any difference. I think last time (when I bought the car) they just put it on standard settings...

    Toyo R888's

lol - you should have stuck up for it and wowed us with your incredibly aggressive driving style!
  27. B

    Toyo R888's

eh? to scrub your way half way up the (stiff) sidewalls on 888s you'd either have to have them running flat or be cornering hard enough to rip the hubs off!
  28. B

    Toyo R888's

JamesS - you seem to know your stuff so I'd be keen to pick up whatever I can to improve things. It sounds like those pressures are pretty extreme but I don't think I'm doing anything that exceptional with the tyres! In your post above you mentioned an assumed cold pressure of 30psi set at 20...

    Toyo R888's

^+1 here too. Not really overdriving the tyres - they last well and wear evenly and I try to drive cleanly rather than aggressively. Sounds like I'm probably running them a bit high at mid-30's hot though. They can easily get over 45 from starting at 30 cold (cheapo pressure guage though!).
