Does anyone know where the Fuel Pump Relay is located on a phquick?
My car has an intermittent starting problem that has not been cured by replacing the TDC sensor.
Starter motor and battery are strong, once the car has started it runs fine. It doesn't cough or splutter; it just doesnt start...
My 172 (ph1, 2001, 42k) has decided that it's not so keen on starting up anymore.
The symptoms are:
The starter turns over fine, nice and strong (so prob not battery/alternator)
It doesn't cough or splutter, and when it does catch it idles, and then drives, just fine.
It can Take 5-6 good...
On Sunday evening I noticed a very slight 'clunk' when bringing the clutch up and the front wheels took load, coming from what I then thought was the passenger front wheel.
The sound was very slight and whilst it has not increased in volume or harshness, it has become more frequent, occuring...
'Bout 3/4 an hour ago, not sure on reg as flshed past the entrance as I was on my way out, 2 male occupants, looked rather low.
No CS sticker that I could see.

Hi.
I've just removed the bump strips from my car to give them a clean, as they're ph1 grainy plastic and full of old polish and wotnot.
The recesses in the doors and rear-body are, predicatably, full of sh1t.
Am I okay to wash this off as normal? Can excess water drain from inside the doors?

I did the search, I followed Fubar's excellent guide.
The fog light doesn't work on the left cluster, and yes I've swapped the bulb for one that works...
Is this bulb redundant on PH1's?

I'm thinking about lowering my car a little. Not to be super low riding, just so that the standard OZ 15's fill the arches a little bit more snugly.
I see from reading previous threads on this subject the Proline's or Sportlines seem to be the most popular choice, with Pro for go and Sport for...
My Y-reg ph1 172 passed 35k on the way to work today, which means we've covered 6 thousand glorious miles together. Still loving it.:)
Time to squeeze in a quick oil change perhaps?

... is starting to take hold. So I would like a little help on the following if at all possible.
Has anyone fitted a splitter (maybe cup-stylee) to a ph1 172? I've inherited a genuite cup splitter but its the wrong profile for a ph1 bumper, so it would need modifying to go on. Has anybody...
Just fitted new rear discs and pads, to my ph1 172.
Everything came off fine, new discs went on fine, stripped and reassembled the 'cradle' and came to refit to the caliper.
The piston just will not retract enough to allow the cradle to be bolted back on.
I know it's supposed to be an effort...
As per title really.
I've got a fishing trip in a fortnight, first one since I bought the 172.
The seat bases come out really easily, and the seat backs just kinda slide out of their outermost mounts, so I was thinking that they must come out quite easily, but I'll be damned if I can see how...
Where do I get them?
Just called into Reno Stockport and they reckon that balljoints for a 172 are not available individually, they come with a wishbone attached at close to 60 quid.
The guy said that he could supply a 'regular' clio balljoint, and we had a look at one, but from what I could...
Took delivery today of rear discs, pads, and bearings, and front discs, pads (ebc greenstuff's), and ball joints, all of which were flagged for notable wear at some level when I had the car serviced at RST.
I'm planning to photo my work 'as it happens'. Assuming there are no problems I'll post...
My ph1 172's flame red (?) paintwork has alot of stone chips, and some of those chips that you get in the door edges through cack-handed door opening.
Can anyone recomend a stone chip repair pen or stick system type thing?
I used the halfords pen kit on my old golf and the results were, at...
Hi.
My new Clio happens to be fitted with an aftermarket alarm, the instuctions for which state it is Thatcham Category 1 and Thatcham Category 2 compliant.
The Alarm was fitted in October of 2001 according to the VSIB certificate supplied with the car bumf.
Does the Thatcham rating still...
:D:D:DJust picked up my (flame?) red ph1 172.:D:D:D
DarrenS ferried me there (again:star:) and our mini-convoy strolled the way home back to Manchester, all under 4k rpm as the timing belt still needs sorting.
It's in fine nick, the spare wheel and tool tray hasn't been touched, so just one...

Okay so I've just put a deposit on a ph1 172 :D and I need to know the following.
