Does anybody have a clio with the vw 1.8 20v turbo engine fitted?. Thinking of modifying a clio with a vw lump and 4wd system

I'd leave it 100% dimma looking cause that's what gives it it's appeal. Will be worth More aswell

I was so tempted with buying that dimma but due to getting married next month I left it. Always liked the dimma clio's. will be nice to see another saved. Good luck with the restoration

Have you knocked the impact switch if it's got one?

Have you checked the oil level? This can bring the service light on if its low

It sounds to me you have bought a clio 182 that needs the oil level topped up and that's it. Just top it up and use it and keep checking it. If it had lost 4-5 litres driving it home it would of been going down the motorway like a red arrow (smoke everywhere). Stop worrying, the sun is out now...

Could be earth lead to engine corroded or broken. Put a lead from the negative battery terminal to a metal part of the engine if it starts it's a earth fault

I've never tried to straighten bent valves before but I know someone who's just about to give it a go. If after you've fitted the cam belt it turns over like a sewing machine you've killed it

Did you learn how to lap 16 valves in at college? I'd order a laping in stick and 16 valves if I was you cause reading this sounds like you'll need them. I know lots of mechanics who wouldn't even take this job on.

Was it damaged when it was fitted? Seen so many people split/tear the bead when fitting tyres. I'd put money on it being damaged when it was fitted but proving it is a different story

If warning light stays on permanently it normally indicates no communication with injection computer. Check engine earths and the small relays on nsf inner wing. Also check feeds to the relays and impact switch if it has one
