i had only jetwashed it off and it had been taken on two test drives (as well as pants weather) so pretty happy... going to try and detail the car before i deliver to the buyer (i feel happier knowing its gone to its new home clean and...
hmm
well been quoted £115 for the clutch kit... and a all up job of £310 so far but not tried my two mates garages... would eb done on axle stands and i dont have a hoist so maybe time to open the wallet me thinks... do they do haynes manuel or anything covering this?
hey, i have a 172 ona 52plate thats done just over 37k...
i have not launched it or let the clutch slip when driving it hard and neither did the lass who had it before... she only did very low miles..
so in thery its possbile had hard use for less than 20k but this i doubt as the lad before...
how difficult a job is it to replace the clutch on a 172? mine has decided to die at 37k and id rather not pay garage prices if i can help it...
competant with spanners etc have done cambelts(not on the 172) suspension, cat and exhaust fit etc will i be able to do it?
great little car,
quick enough to play with the big boys but still decent on fuel... 13mile drive to work in moving traffic i get 46.5mpg!
great fun, understeer when hustled through corners but learn to lift at the right moment and it comes alive and corners like its on rails.. watch wet roads...
gdi system on mine cut into bumper as pics above.... fitted easily, sounds great very sporty as high revs subtle at lol... bit noisy at 3k revs but most i have been in do that dont notice it when the musics on... seems to rev easier and pulls harder with that and breathing mods...
very happy...
i had to get my mates garage to undo the top bolts with his air gun then did them back up just enough to hold em til i got home driving v. slowly and its only about 2 miles... i couldnt move em before and i have decent tools...
dont need spring compressors on 172/182 shocks and rear beams no...
just killed my set of 539's on the front in less than 6.5k scary as it doesnt get driven hard that often... and no wheelspin sessions or burnouts ok grip but tends to understeer a bit not that impressed...
new yokos s-drives on the back very nasty feels like they are sliding about all over the...
hey,
i have a 02 172 ff and have the oportunity to do a rolling road day and have it remapped...
done usual airbox mods of removing acoustic valve, fitting decent panel filter and sorting some cold air feeds.. full gdi stainless exhaust..
what improvements will i get lower down power? expecting...
right peridically the hand brake and stop lights appear on my dash (no not when stopped!!) if i corner hard or go round a long bend they flicker on tapping the brakes when on a straight gets rid of it...any ideas what sensor or switch might cause this as its mighty annoying at night...
thanks guys
right old cat had a huge hoel in it before it entered the cat... no emissions light appeared but sounded gash and went even worse... so
fitted a new cat (proper one not sports) and hey presto the emissions light appears and wont go away... also fitted a gdi exhaust at the same time...
172 on a...
mine seemed to pull harder from low revs.. possibly all in my head but hey it works for me... sounds a bit nicer too..
easy job took me ten mins inc cleaning all the liner etc (just had to do other side then doh
plastic clips come out and go back easy enough...
ye i have noticed very strange not sure if i like it with the anthracite rims now i have seen em in the flesh so to speak...
been offered a set cheap so may have them powdercoated in the same silver as the std ones think it should look smart..
right silly now there are three flame red 172 in tamworth and two of them have 182 wheels on them!
mine std
rachel anne's 182 wheels
unknown last night in asda (no cliosport.net stickers...) nice motor parked next to a gold mk2 ph1 clio very strange...
i go to different shows and see no flame...
thanks guys...
true it would look awsome being that low on teh road but tamworth is pothole and speedbump hell... only lowered it about 15mm but blimey you can feel the difference! have to be careful parking straight onto kerbs as the bumper will hit! and have to reverse into my garage as its on...
not the best pic but hey its a start...
sat in the 'car park' at rws good job it didnt rain!
thanks for looking
oh check out media section for photo's of rws and britcar24 at silverstone... some nice photo's of the gridgirls too
noticed on a clio cup racer at silverstone on sat they had put a strap from the very rearward end of the back box to the rear chassis rail seemed to work well but not sure what vibration or noise it would bput through the car? seemed alot better than normal renaults setup...
adjusted them last night and they seem ok now can actually see the road put about one full turn on them which has made a pretty good difference without blinding the world... will drop it to my mates garage and use his level testers wall thing and get them set right soon...
thanks guys
oh 6mm...
hey all,
i ahev a 02 plate 172ff with the xenons it has been lowered 17mm all round (measured once they settled) but the xenon light beam seems to sit pretty close to the car i.e not much length to the beams
is it possible to adjust them like normal lights?
or is it a tech job?
all great apart...
just removed mine well yesterday anyways... block the vac hose securly..and tape up that elec connector to stop water getting in it and secure out the way in the wheel arch... i left the hose connected to the airbox so it gets a feed away from the engine for cold air... lil bit noisier and seems...
strange traffic is ok depending on who is in your passenger seat...
went from tamworth up the m42 way took about a hour to get there but about 30mins coming back and that inc getting to sutton....
only trafffic was just outside the track coming back..
getting there hit traffic about 2 miles from...
