Anyone else had repeated trouble with them? I rarely use them anyway but...
Last years MOT they failed it on the xenon washers not working - fair enough - a lot of faff and window wipers and scuttle off I had a new pump in.
Que this years MOT tomorrow, in the last week I did a few jobs and...
Just need a bit of help with this one please, drove locally this morning, the car drove fine but when I got to the destination I noticed a massive burble, I had no engine check light on at the time so fed up I left it to go out with someone.
I've come back to the car, started although very...
Hi,
I'm experiencing something I haven't had to deal with before, recently I've been driving home in the pitch black and if I hit a rough surface the headlights have flicked off and back on, are the relays under the glove box?
I've checked the two clear fuses in the fuse box, both look like...
I've asked MarkR on here via PM who was very helpful, but on the parts computer he couldn't see it - As I removed the sub frame I took the lower coolant hose clip bolt out. The clip that pulls the lower coolant hose away from a metal pipe and secures it to the sub frame.
As I was re fitting it...
Narrowed my lack of drive down to the drivers drive shaft, changed the sleeve adapter as it was rounded, but looks like the CV has gone as well as there's no drive to the wheel.
Does anyone know the current price for a genuine shaft?
Or what the exchange service is, do I need to pre ring my...
I know this is a silly question but I just want to make sure - the passengers driveshaft is now attached with 3 bolts so sealed.
Drivers shaft is off for another few hours until a part arrives.
No oil will leak out of the box with the drivers drive shaft off no ?
/noob
I was reluctant to make a thread as I've got quite far on my own but im having trouble with the steering rack bolts.
I have the lower 2 out completely, but there just seems to be no room to get either a 16mm socket on the upper bolts, and there is no room to get a ratchet spanner flat enough...
I know there are a few old threads knocking about for this, but I was planning to use paisley freight who it seems now must have the gearbox palatized and the quote I had was £80 quid. I would drive it down I cant be waiting about for it all day at the moment, so I'm couriering it down and...
Sorry I'm sure it's been covered before for this area but I could do with a recommendation, for a good but reasonably priced place to get my alignment done.
I usually use my local tyre shop but he did such a s**t job last time I'll avoid going back. Having tyres fitted in the morning then want...
My starter motor has developed a screech when starting the car.
I've bought a 2nd hand starter. Plans where to just swap it over but im thinking of stripping it down to clean it up and put a new solenoid on.
Does anyone know what type or model the original Valeo unit is ? So I can find a new...
Hoping those who are more familiar with OS X can help me, I have a friends MacBook Pro which was running fine until updates where installed and somehow now it will not boot, it hangs with the apple logo and the loading logo.
Ive tried everything with my limited know how, it wont boot into safe...
My front speakers are staring to crackle one side, I've sourced some half decent Pioneer ones off ebay new for cheap.
And they come with tweeters so I'm interested in fitting them.
These do not come with any crossover boxes so I just want to check if I can straight swap them?
I just want to...
Came back to a low rear tyre and spotted the screw straight away, funnily enough was today looking at a spare steel / alloy to refurbish my wheels one by one.
I had to use the foam repair can, I've never looked into it properly but I remember reading once the can is used the tyre cant be...
Right so amongst the small niggles on my car one of which is a very slightly seeping water pump, because in a rush I made the mistake of going non gen for the pump, the bolts might just need nipping up but tbh its being swapped for a gen pump with a new belt at some point.
I'll cut to the...
I've just done a pad change all round on a jeep grand Cherokee.
Only problem is the rear right caliper piston had a hairline crack in which developed into a full crack of the piston about half way down. As I compressed it in not knowing at the time fluid leaked out.
A replacement caliper has...
After seeing someone on here do a road rash repair on there bonnet recently has reminded me I'd like to do mine on my bonnet and rear arches.
I've seen some guides and kits in the past, but some of the kits are £50, I have a paint shop local to me, am I right in thinking all I need is a 50/50...
I've seen lots of people using the power flex universal exhaust hanger moulds inside the original exhaust hanger metal.
But I've also seen once or twice people packing the open holes of the exhaust mount with sealant to stop the "X" shape sagging.
Is it tiger seal that's used? any cheaper...
Could do with some trained ears, I realise its hard to diagnose unless stripping the engine or hearing it in person, basically I thought this clacking type noise in the video below was the water pump bearing failing and after the pump and a new Aux kit was fitted the noise still existed. It will...
I need to test run the engine without the aux belt to rule out a suspect rattle on the PAS pump.
I realise I will loose the water pump, alternator, PAS and AC. The obvious ones being no water being pumped round and no battery top up.
The trouble is it takes a few mins of the car settling down...
I started work yesterday changing the water pump, I would have been finished yesterday but the gasket slipped out of place so I had to remove it and re align it.
Many hours later I had fitted the pump, flushed the coolant out and fitted and tensioned the belt.
I was just ready to fill the car...
When fitting a new water pump, I presume it will come with some type of gasket.
Once the area is clean and the water pump is ready to go on... Do I use the gasket only dry, or do I add a smidge of sealant to each side?
I've noticed on idle a rattle, metallic sounding and happens every few beats of the engine idling, belts where replaced about a year and a half ago, have covered roughly 15k since then, dephaser was changed at the same time.
Does this sound like the water pump?
Gearbox is already on the way...
Just seen this on Hot Deals UK.
Good price I think for 1L, this will probably spark a 'there are better products available' discussion, but for this price is handy for being lazy.

I replaced my rear brake pads today, I left the large brake carrier on the hub and just hammered out the metal that holds the brake pads in place, and wound the pistons in with a screwdriver whilst the caliper was in place.
The passenger side wound in fine, but the drivers side rear didn't seem...
I've just had the dents taken out of my car, there was a dent on the drivers a pillar and to get to it the rubber seal had to be removed, it sat back ok but had a ripple in which annoyed me, and when I tried to fix it later on Ive made it worse to the point I want a new seal.
Ive looked on...
Quick question. I've bought 3x 1L bottles of 'Valoline GL-5 80w90 Gearbox oil to refill my gearbox after its been refurbished.
Then I remembered its 3.1L from dry.
If I get a 500ml bottle of carlube 80w90 just for that 100ml extra it might need will that be fine? Seems stupid to buy another...
Does anyone know what brand or type of coolant the orange I currently have in my coolant system is?
The service history for my car was mainly Renault so Im just wondering if its used by Renault?
I know Type D is only recommended, Ive spoke to a Renault mech who says they use all types in the...
Ive done some looking into this, Im seeing the common fix could be brake pedal sensor reset, have also seen it could be steering angle sensor or the YAW sensor underneath the handbrake cover (I thought this was an airbag computer, no?)
I was going to quickly do the brake pedal reset, but could...
