i bought my 172 ph2 about 4months ago from a dealer, car dealer not dug dealer by the way,lol which was apparently a finance recall after i hpi checked it and looked over i bought it it had full mot history but no service history 71k i paid £1900 i serviced it straight away and got the cam belt...
I would say check for leaking injector seals mate, remove rocker cover and check for diesel or black resin (carbonised oil) if so replace injector seals and o rings etc
Depends how long its been split for really, drive shafts have a constant velocity joint inside them hence Cv joint. they rely on grease to keep them running smooth, if there is a knocking noise when you go round bends etc, chances are they cv is knackered, cv boots can be a pig to fit so in the...
As said above its a 1.2 so no turbo badges or v6 badges like these halford tuners fit. mods u should do if any : lower, decent alloys clio cup or trophy, cup spoiler. and tints and thats it, otherwise it will look like mcdonalds car park jobby.
So whats the bestb way to do it, remove battery and battery carriers, support gbox and undo mount bolts or am i making it sound alot easier than it is.
Having recently had my cambelt changed a friend has a 182 and feels his isnt as quick as my 172, so basically he had a cambelt changed about 9months ago, is there any way of checking if his timings out. or is it easier to find another 182 the same spec and compare the 2.
Well chris i started the thread as i was asking if people had the same issue with the standard exhaust being too loud, as i was wondering if i had an oe looking aftermarket jobby on there, ill try and post a pic later, thanks to the people who actually help out
Ha ha i know its not an audi, but just wondering if all clios were booming at 70ish, as said the s3 was never as loud but then i guess the sound proofing was prob a bit better, but still having fun driving the 172.
Had the 172 a few days now, slowly getting through the bits and bobs to make it in good nick, cambelt done just ,passenger seat cable, steering wheel rubbers front discs and pads, and a service to be done now.
But i think that the exhaust noise is really loud especially on the motorway, had a...

Cheers mick i totally get your point, but i guess if you dont do it youll never know, dont wanna sound a tight ass but the fitter said hes more than happy for me to watch him do the work, so ill keep an eye any main things i should be checking

Cheers guys your all great help, still finding my way around the car, the exhaust seems really loud like chav 4inch exhaust loud, but check and its got a new genuine back box, are they usually loud or is there prob an exhaust joint blowing,

And how easy they are to fit, cheers
Oh and as for the big clunking noise im pretty sure its a gearbox mount it had a new gearbox and clutch fitted in march, so just seen paper work saying one of the mounts was worn
This was the cheapest one i could find around my area the cambelt may have been done but its a fonance recovery so the garage i bought it from said they cantsay whether the belt has been done or not so for peace of mind ill get it sorted, i went to look at a 182 with 60k for £3000 yesterday but...
