Get it up on ramps, or park on edge of curb, (not jacked up) while someone is rocking steering wheel left and right, get under with torch and check for play in inner, outer track rod ends, worn ball joints. If the whole steering rack is moving excessively side to side the rack mounts will need...
To confuse things I ordered a non-air con rad for my 172mk1, it fitted the standard mounts fine. The only slight issue I had was that the original fan housing didnt quite sit flush against the rad, there was a 1 cm gap.
It is possible the belt kits are all the same now, Renault have discontinued the 172mk1 kit. From memory its the idler at the lower rear that had a different internal diameter, this affected idler now includes the replacement fixing bolt and spacer (in decent aftermarket or newer Renault kits)...
The powerflex yellow dogbone mount is not too bad for the ph1, I hardly get any vibration with mine. The purple and black versions cause a lot more vibration in my experience.
You may benefit more with powerflex steering rack mounts, and inspect track rod ends and ball joints for play, new...
First twist is sidelights (W5W)
Second twist is dipped beam (HB3)
Full beam which is pulling the stalk towards and letting go (H7)
They are easy to change compared to most modern cars.
It looks like a genuine one, but it has a damper fitted so it must be from a 172ph2, the 172ph1 shafts are completely solid..You cant guarantee thats going to fit as there are 4 or 5 different shafts for that side across the 172/182. They are about £140 from Renault, I think a little cheaper if...
As above, the bit sticking out is the spring from the new pad. It helps keep it in position and reduces squealing, youll need to take it apart again and re-assemble ensuring the springs are inside the caliper.
You will need to remove the heat shield in the middle to get to it, its normally held on with 4 torx bolts, then you will need a deep socket to adjust the handbrake. Also on some models there is a nut on the handbrake lever, its worth taking the back plastic trim off the handbrake to check.
I bought a box of universal O rings all different sizes from a motor factors and replaced mine, buy the Renault kit as it started leaking again after 6 months!
Its a strange problem, I cant see a problem in video1, the top and lower parts of the UJ seem to both move together..Theres nothing wrong in video 2 other than the rubber boot for the lower joint is quite high up the column, did you take it off to check the lower joint, as its actually easier to...
Ive only encountered the problems with the lower UJ on the mk1 clios. I cant see a problem in the video, Mine appears to do the same thing as your video and Ive just fitted a new column (as the top bearing in the column collapsed). If you shake the wheel left and right whilst looking out the...
The 172mk1 Renaultsport logos are in colour and the leather is more blue. Its possibly just a poor quality image used? Id ask the seller to email you high res pics.
Snappy is still active, he isnt on here everyday though so sometimes there is a couple of days between PM's. Im just in the process of getting mine done with him.
Its very common for the pumps to go, the pump is just fixed into the top of the washer bottle. Youll have to remove the passenger side scuttle panel, some remove the wiper but if you have small hands (or use your girlfriends) you will get to it. Be aware when you remove it, all the screenwash...
Andy if you wouldnt mind posting the part number when you get them, I need 2X as both mine are broke from some previous mechanic thats over tightened them.
Nope, the dent was right in the middle of the pillar, he drilled a small hole near the edge of the inside of the door at an angle and managed to push it out from behind, no filling or painting, you would never know the dent had been there. You can see the dent it had in this picture.
I would send it back, if your sure its too short you dont want it popping out and causing serious damage, even at full lock it could slip on the splines. I seem to remember there being 5 different driveshafts for the drivers side across the 172/182 range. I can give you the measurements for...
