The r56 does handle better but from what I read the r53 is the safer bet plus is a fair bit cheaper still... Sorry lol

Just to update that I've decided against the Clio in the end - going to try an r53 mini as they have a lot of tuning potential and relatively trouble free. Thanks.

If that's the case can't you just get a set of four of the cheaper ones, sell on the pair of part worns from your car that still have some life in them, then at least everything will be even front and backs... Different front and rear profiles on a car that should have the same will look daft...

Well this has gone rather slowly as I was getting tempted by a mini as they look really cool but I've been reading up on them and decided against it now so on with the hunt...

New cylinder head? Did they say what was wrong and why it needed a new one? The more I read about these cars the more I think they are just crap - sorry - it doesn't even seem to be down to how it was looked after or full service history etc as they still go wrong even if they have ALL that...

That's an F30 - the e90 is the one before.

Aww man. Bad news. Such a nice looking car too... Why would cylinder 2 go? Is it common? What did the mini guy recon was causing it? Must admit I was getting tempted by a mini instead of a Clio but not so sure....

Heard a few itb 172s and damn they sound immense!!! Got a lot of reading to do on these cars although the more I do the more tempted I am to get one for myself as a track toy!!!

Looks nice. On the knocking it may be worth checking the strut top bolt is tightened properly as I understand they can cause knocking... Dot get springs- the ride will be terrible with runflats :( Light look great though...

Good post - I was speaking from my experience with a mini and putting kw v2s on - made a world of difference and was most definately better than stock but as you say it was slammed but set up for handling.. As above though and apologies for the OT.

Sticking eibachs on a car ruins the ride ime - I was talking about putting a nice set of adjustable coils on there: most definately does improve the ride and handling and can be tweaked when other suspension mods are added such as control arms/camber plates etc Worth noting that when you lower...
