Cheers for the help folks! Got them sorted this evening. One took some amount of hammering (and swearing) ant the other I just had to cut the bolt. Wasn't too sure how much to tighten them up, left about .75cm of thread coming out the bottom of the bolt. Rubber doesn't seem too stressed.

Thanks, yeah I suppose that makes sense. Haven't done something like this before so just wanted to be sure! Would anyone know if its just a standard 13m nut M8 nut?
