172 Gearbox Removal

  Clio 172 Sport Ph2
Last time I did this I took the whole engine & box out in one.

This time however I have my ramps so I'm going for the 'out the bottom method'

Reckon an hour or so & it should be out.....or is that wishful thinking?!

Cheers

remove entire passenger front corner (just take it off in 1 piece, unbolt the lower ball joint and pull the hub, strut and driveshaft out in 1 go)
undo lower box mount and dog bone
drop subframe, don't have to completely remove it

the rest is easy enough, i remove the starter

watch out for the PAS pipe over/round the box

Just under 2 hours we got it out in - wasnt as bad a job as what I imagined to be honest - hopefully I wont be needing to do it again once I have the box back fixed!!!!

Doing mine in a few weekends, no PAS pipes etc to worry about though so hopefully, the same method will be slightly easier, lol!

To be honest mate the PAS pipes dont really get in the way too much - was just a case of hooking them out the way!!

I might be wrong but undoing the steering rack may give you some more movement. Or it might be the anti roll bar hindering progress?

Are you removing the box to replace or do you just need to do the clutch? I changed my clutch with the box half way out.

I didn't touch the subframe when I did mine.

Out the top if your shift the radiator ecu and any other bits in the way
