I love a Momo Team wheel but 280mm is tiny! I had 300mm Team on my old ph1 and i thought that was borderline. Great wheel though. Probably my fave aftermarket wheel.

Car looks so good though :D

280 is small but I've had one on a previous car and you get used to it pretty quickly, plus it was a bargain so I couldn't really say no lol.

Defo buying a clio in April now after seeing these. Anyone selling a cheap 172?! ha

Also forgot about my old 280mm on my old VW lol. Used to feel like a go kart. I'd imagine on the 172 it feels like a total hooligan chucking that around ha.

I need to meet you for photos / RS monthly meet !

Yep, thats me :) There are a fair few nice 172's/182's advertised on the facebook cliosport page recently so may be worth having a look through them, some are really cheap IMO.

Yeah, it's transformed the clio - although the lack of sharp plastic bits in comparison to the standard wheel may also have a lot to do with this lol. But it's very chuck-able now, really enjoyed driving it today, although this evening I was trying my best to avoid the gritting lorries who seemed to be wherever I tried to go to do photos lol.

You do indeed need to come to one of the Rensport meets bud, and I'd love to see your clio and do some photos of it too! It's one of my all time favourite clios! :)

Gritting lorrys and new underbody parts make me sad :( Only took it for MOT on the weekend, which resulting in a film of brown mist all over it. Spent hours cleaning it 😞

A clio 172/ 182 is probably cheaper than a wedding car anyway these days... :wink: Problem solved!

Over the weekend the local Renault facebook group I run (Rensport) went out for a Moors Run, photo shoot and then found a pub for food and drink afterwards. Was a great day, despite the weather being a little rubbish but everyone had a good day which was the main thing.

Think the wet weather effected something as it went into limp mode at one point, however no fault codes stored and after turning it off and then restarting it drove fine, and has done since (touch wood). Anyone experienced this before? Checked the throttle body connections, loom under the scuttle, ecu main plug and the connector for the throttle pedal - all appear to be fine however there is a pink plug coming off the throttle pedal loom that doesn't go to anywhere but has a pin pushed into it bridging something (maybe for the cruise control?).

Decided to replace some parts on the Clio as it's never idled and run as it should to me, and after un-earthing more bodged jobs by previous owner(s), which involved a whole evening messing about with the connections on the relay board/engine bay fuse board due to broken wires/ a loose main connector block due to broken locking pins (white one) and a loose main earth on the gearbox which also wasn't mounted to a clean earthing point. Anyway, took advantage of my staff discount and bought all genuine parts...

:) Pulls quicker and stronger from low revs too which is nice. The old plugs were the wrong ones and had clearly been in a long time, no oil residue found which means the rocker sealant is holding up well, however they had the brown arcing marks all down the side of the ceramic so they were definitely due a change (Bosch plugs when everyone knows that 172/182 only like NGK R), leads looked like they had been on the car since it was new and the coil pack looked pretty tired too - plus the earth points for the coil pack are the bolt holes where it bolts down into the inlet manifold, although I know it's also earthed through the wiring but these are still earth points - only had one bolt holding the old one in, so replaced all 4 with brand new bolts in all 4 mounting points so earthing will be better too (in theory).

LeeP86 - It's a great combo IMO, anthracite and silver works so well. Yours looked like it was great fun on track :)

I work for Renault... so can get a decent discount so genuine parts worked out cheaper than pattern parts from Euro / GSF etc. No brainer for me! :)

Have also just replaced a load of other sensors on the clio... And my poor idle has gone! :) It's now smooth as any other car I've owned, so the comments from people saying they all idle like that aren't strictly true.

Replaced the MAP sensor as the one on the car broke when I pulled it off to inspect it, plus the wiring was caught under the inlet (I free'd it when I fitted the new leads and plugs), also replaced the inlet manifold temp sensor as it was only a few quid and I thought why not. Finally, and the item that has made probably the biggest improvement - the coolant temperature sensor in the block - car is transformed! Idles where it should when cold, drops down nicely when warming up and settles where it should once warm. Response is also improved further when accelerating and MPG has also improved - successful morning :)

As I said before, you may end up replacing most things, but if they are genuine it will usually reward you for it. I think decent maintenance and servicing is such a good move on these :)

Bet it's flying along now. Glad to see your saving it lol

Well I'm working on the theory that all the parts I've replaced can cause issues so now they're all new there's less chance of something failing and causing a bigger issue or leaving me stranded somewhere. 90% of the bits were genuine the only non genuine items where the inlet temp sensor and the map sensor (due to cost even with staff discount for a new one) but both work fine so hopefully they're decent pattern parts.

May just put a new pre-cat lambda on next month so then pretty much everything sensor wise is new.

Yeah I did at one point question putting the money into it, but it is a decent car and so much fun I'd only be replacing it with another 172 or a 182 so may as well stick with the one I know is on its way to being 100% healthy. :)

The seal was knackered on both sides with splits and holes, and to make it worse the bleed screw for the coolant had been cross threaded so had to re-tap the thread on the housing and fit a new bolt. All tested and seems to be working nicely with no leaks (touch wood). If I ever come to sell this car someone's going to be getting a bargain with all the new parts fitted and bodge jobs done correctly!

Yeah definitely... That seal won't have been doing much the amount it was warped and split!

Going to change the lambda next, then pretty much ever sensor has been replaced with a new one so they shouldn't fail for a long time to come.

Also need to find a cat as well.

Alright mate,have you got a list of all the sensors etc you replaced please,as i keep thinking of doing the same thing for piece of mind and make sure its all running well.

Part numbers are all on the Renault Parts Direct website, on each item it has a SKU reference number - that's the genuine Renault part number and can be used in any main dealer or specialist. :smile:

One thing I will add, the coolant temp sensor wasn't genuine (Haas from ECP) and today the car started idling rubbish again, a very low idle (as if it thinks it's warm), cutting out when the revs drop (again because it think's it's warm and the CTS controls spark advance etc via the ECU), unplug the sensor and it runs better... Plug the old sensor in and it runs rubbish (but I know that one is dead), new sensor is un-responsive so my mistake and will be replacing it tomorrow with a genuine one from work that I have ordered.
