182 Starting & running issues. Ticking from the middle of the head

  Clio
Looking at a 182 that's been stood for a while. The car started ok and ran but felt a little flat. Stalled it then it took a long time to restart. It cranked over fine but wouldn't fire for a longish time, eventually catching and spluttering into life then seemed to run OK and "cleared it's throat" and seemed to run better. Would then restart sluggishly after this.

Also when running with the bonnet open I noticed a tapping/Ticking sound that changes with the revs around the mid cam area. Lifter? The car has just had an oil change and the dephaser etc. is recent.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Check the TDC sensor. When the car runs if you wiggle the wires around for it and it cuts out that's your problem.
