All-in-one printers (that fax)

This may be a silly question, but if I were to purchase and all in one printer with fax facility, is it just a case of connecting it to the phoneline and someone can fax to it using the home number, or do I have to have a seperate fax line as well?

I have an Lexmark that has a fax facility but buggered if I've ever gotten it to work. Can't send nor receive.

yeah you can set the amount of rings before the fax picks up.

Can use the same number, either set it so you have to press a button to receive, or to answer after a set number of rings as above. If the machine supports 'Distinctive ring' then you can get the BT Call Sign service which gives you an extra phone number which makes a different ringing sound - the fax machine detects it and answers straight away automatically.
