Tony,

What did you think of the engine ?
I am sure James has explained every thing.
I would recommend a proper oil to air cooler with AN-10 pipe work.
If you do decide to go 423's the standard timing figures as recommended by Cat Cams were wrong for this engine.

Hi Steve. Engine feels good, needs a little top up after each race. I like the 421 cams, so wouldn't be changing them.
Oil cooler is arriving today, so I'll get that fitted before Pembrey.
Also have a oil temp and pressure gauge arriving.

Tony,
I meant 422 cams.
As you say if you like it how it is leave well alone.
I have never been happy with the oil control rings provided with those pistons, maybe next season think about replacing the pistons with a different brand, they will be past their best by then.
That engine also has ARP head and main kits, with King race spec big ends and full grooved main bearings with an oil restrictor to the head, the oil pump has the oil strainer un-shrouded.
You may not think so but that was a good engine for the money, to reproduce what you have would cost over £5k so look after it.
I would also check your gearbox temperature, when I checked the on several different car their gearboxes were getting too hot and I suggested a cooler and pump were needed.

2 Races, 2 wins.

HELLO.
Great weekend, and some great racing, good close stuff at times, and not a scratch was had.
Well done to Nick and Ashley, such a shame for Andrew with his car problem, that we couldn't sort.

Rockingham next.

Well Rockingham is looming this weekend, It seems ages since Pembery, so to make up for the lack of races, I shall be having a go in a Toyota Celica, in the Nippon challenge Coupe' Cup.
This is being supplied by Se7en Motorsport, and just been built :)anguished:)!!

Thats Saturdays fun sorted, then on the Sunday, it's down to business with Big Burp and the Tricolore Trophy.

Going to be a good weekend.

Can't wait.

My trusty steed for the Saturday races.
Missed qualifying as the car was late (fog on motorway), so the first time I sat in the car, was on the way to the grid for race 1.
having not qualified, I had to start at the back of the pack in 26th, my instructions were, try not to bend it, but drive it like you stole it. GAME ON.

Had a fairly good start, and just slowly picked my way through the pack, picking them off one by one, whilst getting used to the feel of the car at the same time, the beast is a little understeery, but safe, which is just as well as I couldn't judge the length of the bonnet at times, and it got a little, shall we say, close.
But finished 8th overall and 3rd in class, the Se7en Motorsport team guys were happy, and we had some good feedback.

Race 2 was very much a stalemate, but had a great battle with Miles in his super dupa MR2, who was quicker than me, but once I got past I made the Celica VERY wide, and gave him a lesson on how to protect a place (without weaving). We both had a great time.
8th overall and 2nd in class this time. The Team were very happy, and I didn't scratch their brand new car, result.

Thruxton, what can I say.
I must admit, after my very big "off" last year, I wasn't really looking forward to the revisit, but one must get on with these things.
Arrived late Thursday night, to miss the traffic (wise move), and a good nights sleep.

Getting everything ready on Friday was quite routine, and the sun shone!

Very scarey lol.
2016%20Thruxton%20Paddock%2095_zpsdb7crvdg.jpg

We ran a mixed grid at Thruxton,
a, because they allow so many cars onto the grid (43)
b, non of the series had nowhere that amount of cars entered
And what a sight to behold, a full 43 cars on the grid revving to go on lights out!
Andrew Mithchell in the 205 had put his car on pole, Nick Gwinnett had just pipped me, so we were sitting in 6th and 7th amongst the Nippons.

I remember passing Nick, but tbh, it was just chaos really, just go as fast as you can, and pass whatever/whoever you could in the 15mins to follow.
It was very windy, and I put the car moving around a lot to this, esp on the fast back section I was having to really hold on tightly.
Anyway, somehow I came in first French car, so one down and one to go.

The chasing pack, I had this the whole way around for 15min.

Race 2
Much the same again, and was bloomin hard work, and I had to drive the car faster than was comfortable, esp with it still moving about ALOT

Oh, and not a scratch either :)

Brands next at the end of the month.

Be there.
