common oil leaks on 16v’s

ive got a small oil leak on my new valver and i was wondering if there were any notorious places for engine leaks? when i stop and get out of the car i can faintly smell burning oil, and if i look down towards the gearbox from the nearside wing it looks quite oily.

its goin to the garage next week for diagnosis, but if i have an idea of the problem before hand it would help.

they can often leak round the rocker cover & round the back of the engine.

used to know most stuff about my old fiestas engine, but this french stuffs all new to me!
