Head Gasket Worries, HELPPPP

So i finally got round to re fitting a stat to my 172 yesterday, obviously coolant got dropped, and there was definitely signs of oil in it

I'm hoping that it just found some oil on the floor, or as it fell through the engine. Car is far from down on power, still pulls the same, no smoke or anything, but obviously now head gasket is in the back of my mind.

Anyone in the medway/maidstone/kent area got the tools to test and help a fellow clio owner out!

headgasket is rare on these.
obviously it's not impossible, but its very uncommon.

Have you flushed the system through?
Personally, I'd be keeping a close eye on coolant and oil levels for the next few days.
haven't got a sniff tester, but I'm sure most garages would be able to give it a quick check if you asked nicely.
might even be able to get a quick compression test while your at it.

Yeah flushed all coolant out and replaced with new stuff, no mayo or anything in the filler either. Just wanted to get it checked for peace of mind really!
Yeah i'll give some garages a call see what they can do

I am having a similar problem at the moment. Lost some coolant (half the bottle), found a leak in the rad, new rad & fresh coolant. Bled the system. Checked yesterday and coolant was below minimum. Rang a Renault specialist and they said it may have been air trapped in the pipes somewhere along the lines. I'm going top it right up, bleed it all again (including the bleed screw on the heater pipe behind engine), and keep an eye on it.
Hoping it was just a bit more air hiding in the system somewhere

@Pacman. I put it here as well as the engine thread area as i thought more people close to home would see this and be able to help.

I can see what you are trying to do but this area is for organising meet and events for the Southeast.
The techincal area is for matters like these. However it's up to the mods to decide what area this should be in.
