Megane Trophy
Well myself and dad spent 12 hours in Telford yesterday mapping the Dax Rush. Thankfully she ran a treat with water and oil temperature and pressure running spot on.
We got the car on the rollers and spent a good hour setting up the jenveys correctly. After that the lower end of the map that had been produced on a dyno for our engine was tweaked.
We then started to visit some sites between 1000 and 6500 rpm to adust fuelling and spark advance/r****d.
Unfortunately 6500rpm was the highest we managed to get with our car as the Rush kept wanting to climb out of the rollers the whole time. Even when it was trapped to a van!!
Pleasing was the fact that we saw 200bhp @ 6500 rpm at the wheels.
With another 2500 rpm to go to the rev limit of 9000 rpm.
The engine on the dyno and other engines with the same top end map as ours all made 230bhp @ 9000 rpm at the wheels with a flywheel dyno figure of 255bhp and 175 ft/lbs @ 6000 rpm.
So it was very pleasing to know that ours is bang on the power quoted!
I must say i am now however deaf as it was soooo loud and on over run a nice 2 feet blue flame was to be seen everytime!
There was a mk2 escort with the same setup bar the trumpet length as ours and that made 180bhp @ 6500 rpm and 200 bhp @ 9k RPM at the wheels. I will upload a video of this later!
Was a 17 hour day by the time we got home but was ever so pleasing to know that she ran perfect and made the power we were hoping.
So as she is now 399 bhp/ tonne we renamed the Rush the H400!
SVA will be mid April so hopefully the car will be on the road come early may after post SVA build
