Megane 225 F1 Team
I was asked through Facebook to enhance a recently acquired Megane 225 in ultra blue. When Shaun came by to give me a look at the car It was clear it was well looked after, very tidy bar swirled paint.
The car was dropped off late on Friday evening and I set to work straight away.
I found a couple of random patches of marring
The lacquer on the wing had quite a dull finish
The standard spoiler had been removed before drop off to make way for an .R spoiler
And the swirls
There was a few spots of tar dotted around
I only had a couple of hours until it went dark so I wasted no time.
The car was rinsed, sprayed with pre wash and left to dwell while I did the wheels with auto finesse imperial, then the car was rinsed again and washed with lather.
Then onto tardis. The whole car was sprayed, left to dwell, agitated then rinsed.
I then moved my attention to this mess
After a while it persisted at this stage.
So out came the kitchen roll! Doused in tardis and left to dwell.
This softened it off enough to get the majority of it off with just a little residue left for the following day. It got too dark so I called it a night.
Day 2 opened with a bit of drizzle. So up went the gazebo and we (the girlfriend was over the moon with helping assemble a gazebo in the rain ) finished just as it started to rain properly.
It was looking much better just after a wash and decontamination
Quick rinse, wash and then I finished the bootlid
Sprayed with iron x
There was less than I expected but the colour made it difficult to catch the bleeding
So glad for the gazebo, the heavens opened.
Sprayed off and washed again ready for clay.
Got a shock at the bonnet! It could've done with another hit of tardis.
The wing was better, the rest of the car came off a bit like this tbh.
Rinsed and dried ready to be taped
Some more random scratches
Odd marring in places too
The sun came out just in time for polishing
I mainly used auto finesse revitalise #2 as I was aiming to get it all done today, I figured this would add some depth to the finish as well as removing most of the swirls.
This was difficult to capture. You can just make out the 50/50 here after a pass with AF #2. It didn't remove it to my liking so I moved to AF #1 then back to #2 to finish
Then I went on to tackle the rest of the car.
The wing came up brilliantly IMO, almost no orange peel.
This had some marring which I struggled to capture, it just looks like the reflection is unfocused.
The bootlid came up brilliantly
After the polishing was finished I gave the car a going over with auto finesse ultra glaze.
The wind then picked up so the gazebo came down
The car was given a coat or AF spirit.
The glass and plastics were wiped with IPA.
Plastics dressed in AF revive.
Glass done with rain x.
Tyres done with AF satin.
Exhausts with autosol.
Alloys with tough coat.
The deeper scratches and RDS' remained but I was happy with the finish given the time I had.
And with the .r spoiler from spray shack fitted
I'm waiting on some more finished photos as I forgot to get any before the car was collected
Cheers.
