My Inferno Project (very pic heavy)

  Clio 182 FF inferno
I bought my Clio about a year ago it was March 2012, since then a lot has changed, when I bought it it was a 100% standard Full Fat 182 with both cup packs

When I bought it the exhaust looked a bit rotten and knew it would need replacing soon, I took it to The Fast Show 2012 at Santa Pod then on the way back I had a play with an RS1800 powered Ka and my exhaust shifted and started blowing like mad! I got it home and I bought an exhaust the next morning from Ktec and it arrived the morning afterwards, the exhaust I decided on after listening to loads the night before was the KTR ultra Performance SuperSport with decat

Couple weeks later my mate carbon wrapped his bonnet and boot lid on his RS1800 powered Sport Ka and with the left overs he wrapped my front badge which actually look quite alright

I then that June went to Modified Nationals 2012 on the stand for Essex Cruise Scene

View attachment 95875

When I was there I bought a piperX panel filter for my standard air box

On the way back I met a few mates down at Pitsea flyover then as I went to leave I went to start my engine and It wouldn't start an I heard a small click noise from the bay and I knew it was gona be Cambelt , and had to get it recovered back to my work place in Romford

View attachment 95877

The next morning I went down to work and took the top engine mount off to look at the top of the belt, for a second I was over the moon so happy because it hadn't snapped but then realised the belt must have jumped

Considered either just swap engine over or get the head rebuilt because I have the history of the engine and it was a very low mileage engine so I decided on the head rebuild

So then about 6 weeks later off it went to Engine Dynamics a renault engine specialist in Braintree

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365452605.833881.jpg

Once he took it all apart he see what happened, it is the most unlucky timing belt failure he had ever seen I'll upload the pics and explain it bit by bit in his words

A bolt must have been over tightened from the factory or a flaw in the bolt, it broke and somehow went upwards possibly aided by the aux belt and ended up wedged up in the exhaust can pulley, the bolt originally came from the crank seal housing
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365453226.462190.jpg

The Bolt that cause the problem
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365453010.637790.jpg

It then wedged itself in the circled area causing the belt to jump and then bent 12 valves
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365453154.342480.jpg

Also destroying my cam pulley in the progress
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365453275.615697.jpg

Andy at Engine Dynamics then fully rebuilt and refurbished my cylinder head, and done the obvious stuff like belts and pulleys, he also replaced my leaking PAS rack and I got him to put a performance map with over run on my car

August 2nd I picked the car up
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365453583.601801.jpg

then went to get it taxed and tested where it passed with flying colours ;)
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365453607.511582.jpg

That night I organised a meet at graffiti tunnel with a couple of mates :)

Looking good but I'd change the fog surrounds back to black and put standard silver diamond on.

Yeh you can spray it with any VHT paint doesn't have to be crackle paint I think I'm the only person on the forum to use crackle paint, mainly because its not very well known and also because it has to be painted in a particular way and then heated up a lot which makes it a pain to paint, just make sure your wire brush it an clean it up first

Bumper off so I can do a few bits,
Removing headlight washers, blanking headlight washer pipes, fitting carbon headlight washer blanks, clean bumper up, clean everything behind the bumper, change a fog light as one of mine has a crack, fit headlight carbon fog surrounds and few other little bits too

Carbon should be here tomorrow from streamline carbon

Should be back on the road in few weeks, I have a lot to do, a lot of updates coming in the next few weeks

Sounds better than the standard airbox mate and about the splitter tbh a lot of people loved it and a lot of people weren't a fan also, it looked 100x better in person I only removed it as once it was lowered it was only an inch from the ground and it scrubbed on everything and it really annoyed me so I'm putting my standard cup splitter back on

Have you got a guide to what you did and parts you used to remove the old headlight washers and fit blanks. I've bought some off here and ill be spraying and bonding them into my bumper like you have done.

Car looks good too :) Like that front splitter a lot but you can see why it didnt last long!

Sorry I haven't but its really easy you need to remove the bumper which is 2 clips at top of grill(flat head screw driver), 2 10mm bolts under the arch liner in the top corner of the bumper(1 each side), few torx screws underneath and at the side of the bumper(1 at each side and then I think 2 on the bottom each side) and 2 10mm bolts on the black bit underneath too then pull the bumper each side away from the wing it's 3 Clips you'll hear undo themselves, once that's done dont pull the bumper too far you have to disconnect the fog lights which is one plug on the passenger side then pull the bumper away and pull the hoses off the washer jets and out of bumper and undo the back of the washer jet with I think it was a 20mm spanner and they come straight off, then what I done with the hose was when the bumper was off you can see right in the corner near the Passenger side wheel where the 2 hoses have joins in them, I removed all the hose up to there then connected them to each other with a small cut off bit of tube from what I'd removed, it's really simple when you have bumper off, a lot easier then you would think, when you do it if you get stuck send me a message and I'll draw a picture up for you

Thanks mate, the splitter has a lot of haters but a lot of people liked it too, it was different because nobody has tired it to a mk2 Clio before everyone who actually see it in person absolutely loved it,

Thanks for that. I know how to get the bumper off so I was just wandering what you did with regards to removing the jets and hoses afterwards, etc. looks so much better with the blanks fitted and no more steaks!

Yeah the splitter is quite different but cool. It is very chunky though and if your low then it always be a no go! Lol. Have you thought about dropping Chris Powell/Carbon Central in the traders section as he can skin over your cup splitter in 2x2 twill carbon. It would be stronger and match your fogs and blanks nicely :)

  Whichever has fuel
That front splitter look(ed?) like the rear spoiler from a Capri Laser.

Apart from that, I love it. :D
