Seat wiring issue. Help greatly appreciated

  Arctic 182FF
I recently put 172 seats into my non-sport and I now want to connect everything up so the airbags work etc. (also because my MOT is tomorrow and need the airbag light to go off, I have a new ECU waiting to go in)
I looked under the driver's seat to find this:

My mum's boyfriend told me to use the blue clip in the picture to connect all the cables together, as demonstrated in the next picture:

But surely that will just connect all the wires to each other and cause big problems? I hope it will be ok like this as it would save me a lot of hassle but I can't see it working like that.

The front passenger seat looks even more difficult. Plenty of connectors but nothing to connect into them! All that comes from the car is the bundle of cables wrapped in black insulation tape. Everything else is coming off the seat so I have no idea how I'm supposed to connect them.

If anyone has any insight on how to connect these and what to connect to what etc. that would be amazing.

Thanks in advance

Holy s**t. Do not do what he's suggested, you'll probably cause a fire, let me have a read, then advise.

My advice, take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

If you strip the tape that's holding all the wires together back so you can see them all individually, then take some better photos someone may be able to help.

You want the following photos:

Drivers seat, seat side (this should just be connectors)

Drivers seat, car side

Passenger seat, seat side

Passenger seat, car side

Label them up like this and post up again.

You've left it a bit late if your MOT is tomorrow!
That'll take a bit of time to work out, but can be done.
As said get some photos up labelling which wires are coming from the car, and which are attached to the seat.

On drivers side you should have two wires for pre-tensioner, two wires for seatbelt warning beeper, and two wires for seat position sensor on the rail (if its still there)
Passenger side you will have two wires for pre tensioner, no warning beeper or position sensor.
It gets a bit complicated because not all non sport seats had airbags in them, so there are a few loose connectors as standard

Ok thanks, here's the pics:

Driver's side from car:
Consists of 1 lone orange wire, 2 lone grey/black wires, 2 sets of orange and lilac wires wrapped around each other (I assume they're wrapped around each other for a reason) and one set of orange and white/lilac striped wires wrapped around each other.

Driver's side from seat:
Consists of 1 lone orange wire, 2 sets of orange and blue wires. There are more connections under the seat but they are all connected to each other so have left them for now.

Passenger side from car:
Consists of 1 lone grey/black wire, one set of orange and lilac wires and one set of lilac and white/yellow wires.

Passenger side from seat:
Consists of 3 female connectors. 1 with a blue connector and 2 wires, blue and brown. 1 with a brown connector and 2 wires, blue and brown. Lastly one with a black connector and a singular black wire.

How f**ked am I?

I know but I was told all I had to do was clip all the wires together with that connector thing, sounded like a 5 minute job! My previous seats did have airbags in if that helps at all.

Thanks for the reply

Any more help would really be great as I'm running out of time. Does anyone know where I should take it for this to be sorted out and/or a rough estimate on the cost?

Right, now you've got to call in some favours.

You need someone with the same car as you to take a photo of what colour wires go where, then someone with the car the seats came out of to do the same.

The passenger side looks stupidly easy, right amount of wires, so I'd just assume the colours have changed. Drivers looks a little worse.

As for what you can do, an Auto electrician should have the wiring diagrams for both vehicles, then be able to do it for you.

Alternatively, if you have any local Renault specialists near you, they should be able to do the same. Two Tech's in dartford were going to do this for me and they're just a regular renault specialist with ex renault techs working there.

Black is your seatbelt.

I *THINK* the 2 browns are earths. I'd want to multimeter it tbh. see where your getting voltage.

what time tomorrow is your MOT? I can turn the light off in clip for you to pass the mot.

MOT is at 1:45. I thought you tried to turn the light off but it didn't work? Would that be different now that I've had the ECU wiped?

Thanks so much for that, should be a great help. I'll get onto doing that after I've made sure it passes MOT first :)

Edit: Found these pics, dno if they help much:
Obviously on the standard seats they'd plug in where I've put resistors

HOLY THREAD REVIVAL, BATMAN!

I now need to get this sorted on my second clio with 172 seats, I didn't get around to doing it on the old car as I still need some info.

If you'd be so kind as to give me a little more advice? Such as what's happening with the black wires in both pictures? They're grouped together with the orange and pink wires that are bridged by a resistor but I'm not sure if that actually needs plugging into anything? Also, where did you get the resistors and connectors (if any of them weren't already in the car).

Could really use your help, thanks.
