My Inferno Story...

A very tasty addition, defo worth waiting for the other parts to save putting them in and then having to take them out again!!

Will have a sit in it when they are in ;)

Well the Recaros are in but it wasn’t without it’s problems... plug and play my arse! Much thanks to @Adamxx for assisting with my wire guessing...

So this morning at half 7 I was full of excitement with the prospect of fitting my seats...
D5F55435-C14F-46BE-B261-5F7C2D0EBC40.jpeg

Car was up in the air, battery was disconnected and I was under way... I made sure I left it 20mins before doing anything though as I didn’t fancy an airbag in my face...

My enthusiasm didn’t last long... the seat nuts came off really easy and I lift the seat to be greeted by not a plug but cut and shut cables...

For the history of the car I wasn’t expecting to see this under my drivers seat I can asure you.
I was close to saying “eff it, I’ll just sell them” but with abit of simple deduction I worked out which cable was what on the Recaro seat...
7615B733-FA17-4DC0-813C-C536724E3C88.jpeg

Then it was a case of working out the standard seat wires using a couple of images from the forum.
0F2913DB-67B1-4A6F-AB23-2601F49D83BE.jpeg

Then it was the moment of truth, cut the wires and take the seat out...

Place the new one in and hope my guesstimation of wires was correct...

I thought the passenger side would be easier but it wasn’t...

This time I didn’t cut the pretensioner wire I managed to get it around the Recaro and use the exsisting one. I did however have to cut the green/blue green/brown wire. I assume that has to be 3.3ohm resisted as does the wires in the image below on the drivers side...

So here they are in all they’re glory...

I’m very happy with them!! So comfy to sit in imo, they just need a damn good clean!
Hopefully my Renault mechanic will be able to use his CLiP to turn the lights off for me or I’ll have to try the resistors...

Very impressed with the work to get these in mate as said, I'd have said eff it and that would have been that lol!

Well worth the effort however, looks great, comfy...……. bargain! :D

Cheers mate glad I stopped to think about it before just throwing toys out of the pram! Haha

This morning put the standard headlight back in since the nights are drawing in a bit and don’t fancy getting caught out with 1 headlight.

Once that was in I set about giving her a quick bath... Iron fall out on the wheels, Rinised whole car, citric pre wash, rinsed, snow foamed, washed, rinsed, hydrophobic spray, rinse again, towel dry, detailed trims, coat or triple3 polish/glaze/wax, tires dressed and a final coat of spray wax... All products used were Auto Finesse...

A quick visit to see my Renault mechanic today proved to be successful...
B6BF276C-78F4-4A4E-8FF7-CCD25D308870.jpeg

Using his CLiP, he turned off my airbag and SERV lights, was only with him 10mins and a drove away light free. They still flash on/off when ignition is turned on so now MOT issues there either.

Just been out tinkering this evening...
Since my mechanic turned off the airbag lights I no longer need to leave the cables exposed for putting resistors on. The Recaros came with some plastic coating on the cables which I have reused to hide my wiring. At some point I will solder them together but for now it’ll suffice...

Not much has happened with the car lately but today saw the start of another audio upgrade,
This time to compliment the upgraded door speakers. I know many people aren’t into big speakers in clios as it promotes the boy racer stereo type but myself prefer a little extra punch to my music something that door speakers alone can’t really do imo.
1st thing was to get the headunit out to run the remote and rca cables.
B3BE1B20-9E99-4249-B4A8-40DB2D66784D.jpeg

Having the steering controls cable and a Bluetooth mic box cable for the head unit and now adding rca cables, it was going to be a tight squeeze behind the unit but I got it all in eventually.
5A0B1EA7-E20B-40E5-84EB-2D1482502B63.jpeg

Then it was just a case of running the all the cables behind the trims to the boot and hooking it all up.

Next on the list is to get it to my mechanic for a service and to try fix the snapped gearbox bolt.
Then a stud and nut conversion is on the cards I reckon.

It's easier to get all the cables behind the radio by whipping off the dashtop, only a few bolts and let's you get your hands to it.

These are also perfect for use with the RCA cables VCE 3-PACK RCA Male to Female 90 Degree Right Angle Adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072F36GJW/?tag=cliospnet01-21

Looks really good, nice work.

I'm sure you've probably been asked this a million times now, but what ET are your wheels and what size / profile tyres? I'm guessing ET43 and 195 50 15? Thanks.

Finally picked up a 2nd hand sub and amp for the bargain price of £35 having fit the cables last week. It’s nothing to special, a Fli 10” 800w peak sub and a Maystar QXT200 amp which runs at 350w RMS bridged, so it’s got plenty of kick without maxing the sub.
60A4BCE6-A9C7-42E0-A9B3-8C46B92E2CCC.jpeg

Originally the amp was mounted to the back of the box but I didn’t like it there, so I have mounted it to the carpet for now until I can source a wheel well box for the sub to go in it.

It was all going so well until the sub and amp arrived.

Lovely car, but I hate the way subs and amps look and the stereotype they bring

I know what you mean about the stereo type having a sub an amp brings but I only put one in to give my current speakers that little extra punch. I run the high pass filter so tbh you wouldn’t know I had one unless you looked in the boot.

I still can't believe all this has gone in the boot lol, but when you consider how cheap it all was compared to my front speakers alone, it's a lot of boom boom bass for your pound! If the sub goes in the well and the amp gets moved too, it'll be a lot more hidden and oem looking for sure IMO

For those who follow the thread you will know about the broken gearbox bolt I have had for a while. It’s causes a massive vibration through the car when I lift of the throttle after spirited driving.
Last night I went to my mechanic after hours to sort that issue along with an oil & filter change aswell as looking at a leaking washer bottle.

Next was onto the snapped bolt...

We drilled it using a left hand fluted bit hoping it would catch and undo but no luck. Had to go in with a easy out which we nearly gave up on as it was FT but we used a cheater bar and managed to get it out.

I’d sourced a of couple replacement bolts for that mount from people breaking 1*2s.
That was put in and a back up nut put on the backside just for extra security.

Put back the pipe work and battery and take her for a test run... All was good, no more vibration!

Last job of the evening we started at 21:45 was the washer bottle...
3C1A2FD6-CB28-4699-9B2A-E43E95B5A039.jpeg

Took all the mechanism out, bottle was bone dry, filled it and not 1 drip came out of it anywhere! That problem will be monitored very closely.

I eventually got away from the garage at 22:30, had a quick test drive and arrived home one happy camper.

Glad you got that bolt out. I wouldn't say it was the reason for causing you vibrations though? Didn't seem to make any difference replacing mine.
Easier to remove the captive head though ;)

I’m a 100% definite it was the cause as all the vibration has now stopped since replacing the bolt. We did think about cutting it off but in my mind it wouldn’t have been the proper way to fix it.
