Decided to see what it would look like on the 17s I have.

Terrible. So I'll probably just sell them on.

Other stuff includes a totally fucked wheel bearing. Went from ok to shagged in about 2 weeks.
For anyone who has one note that a M18 spline socket tends not to come in kits. Even spline kits....

Quick, rough paint of the shot guard too since I was there

Hoping to wash and decontaminate it this weekend.

This is mostly for my own records. Oil and air filter changed today at 116687 miles. Pollen filter needs done and a sub has been thrown in. Cos I think I'm half my actual age

Alot of folk vac the oil out of VAG engines like these, you can get at all the excess oil in the filter housing that way.
Also it's easy as f**k.

Would've been easier than the rusted bolts for sure.
It'll be happening every 3-4 months at my mileage so leaving the undertray off. That'll make it easy too. And a few ml left in the system doesn't concern me tbh

Just seems mental. I get that oil is better than ever before but it's a cheap way of keeping it going. I plan to hit 200k in this before it goes so I want to keep on top of it

Had to take 2 weeks off to self isolate and then not been able to use it for a week since noticing a slight issue so it's only done 3k since the last update.

The issue

The fix, 4 225/40/18 Michelin Pilot sport 4s. Maybe a tad overkill but what the hell. I like Michelin's, they grip superbly and last well ime on clios. Got them fitted at home as I've got zero time during the day to take it anywhere. Wife was really understanding when I asked her to take a pic for this thread and defo didn't call me names.

The Michelin's seems a bit squarer than the budgets so I guess tomorrow will show how bad the rubbing is. I think it could be quite bad.

First time, it could do with a little less camber at the back but I know the bolts will be fucked so might end up just getting the front toe sorted so it doesn't rip through these tyres.

Not much else to report. Couple of thousand miles in and first properly wet day with the new tyres.

I honestly can't recommend Pilot Sport 4S enough. Genuinely amazing in the wet and dry.
I guess the pay off is they'll wear quickly but it's too soon to tell yet.

Sold my track Clio. Just before a track day. So it seemed a good time to sort the scrubbing issues. The only way I know how.

Even treated it to a wash after

Took the kids out gruffalo hunting and stopped for a quick pic (for the kids to pee in a bush)

Second track night done. Got a set of DS1.11 for the fronts and they lasted way better. Obviously. And stopped it so well. I'd like to get braided lines for it and uprated rear pads but I'll wait until next year in case I sell it in the meantime. Since I'm me.

took the @Djw Dave line through the chicane but as you can see with the colours and rust I'm not caring. It'll no doubt clean off.

and I've 100% found the limit of the eBay coilovers, through the first 3 corners they just couldn't cope. I fully committed a few times and realised I was gonna break something so had to chill out a bit.
Still, good times in all senses.

This post is just for my future reference, easiest to find it again here.

Did 64 track miles at 16mpg and used half a tank. Fronts had a cold pressure of 25psi and rears 40psi.
Next time start with at least 3/4 of a tank.

Didn't realise this was you. Thats me trying to keep up with you.

Quite a few bell ends on this evening. How many red flags did we get? 6 or 7.

Ha no way! Well, at least we were polite to each other 😂 Your car looks superb.

Aye, that cooper s with the tinted number plate caused at least 3 of them I think.

Just changed the oil ready for the next one on Saturday afternoon, 126,200 miles on it now.

Watched the clips. Every time I would get close to you at the hairpin you'd absolutely blitz the 200 up the hill. I'd catch at the same point then repeat :ROFLMAO:

Laptimes are very similar (63 or 63 seconds).

Aye it does really well at that 40-60mph bit but dies on its arse compared to the flamer at the steepest bit of the hill. It's the handling that I really didn't expect from it tbh.
We seemed fairly even round the corners iirc.

So another service done, 126,100 miles on it now. Not particularly dirty but no point not changing it

I don't have any issues with scrubbing on the road but clearly the same can't be said for when on track. If I still have it next year I'll do something about it then.

Had an annoying heatshield rattle at the back, it wasn't held on with anything yet was still a dick to remove. Worth it though, sounds less broken (although still like a tractor)

AE01EF94-CD95-4EBB-B349-F6B99534735F.jpeg

For some reason it had worn 1 rear pad down to the metal, inner on the passenger side. I know it had new calipers not long ago and it all seemed to be moving ok so dunno if it's because I can't fully turn off the esp. Any ideas? Replaced them with Bosch ones for now anyway. And kept the 3 good ones in case I have to replace it again 😂

The interior is dull as f**k and most of the mods I see folk do are questionable. I don't know if this is any better but they were from a crashed Leon in a scrappies and were only a couple of quid. Just breaks it up a bit from this

Yes that is tape over the tweeter. Anyway.

Bought new plates and since there's a 1 I thought I'll get them a bit narrower and totally plain. Might have got the measurements a bit wrong....

I've got black vinyl coming for the front where the plate sits but thought I'd pop them on and decide what to do, I think a little bigger would be better but glad to get rid of the writing, the border and the rusty screws.

but now you've got holes in both bumpers?

Decent mods for the FR's is getting the metal pedals if you don't already have em.

I do yes. I doubt these plates will be on for long.

Good shout, found a set of FR550 seats close and cheap but the guy gave off a stabby vibe so I left them

Cupra R also had really nice seats, not cheap mind.

You can get the FR heated seats?

That would be nice, I'll have to get the buttons and what not as well.

3rd track day done for the non track car.
It might be beginning to show signs of this abuse.

Clipped the cones at the chicane and fired them straight into @Djw Dave who was right behind me. So fucked up his car too 😂

63 track miles done at 16mpg again. Great afternoon, a lot of nice cars there, only some of them being driven as quickly as deserved though.

Back to road spec (sub back in, normal pads on) and can see that some self clearing has happened

59C48C5F-96FC-4F18-B694-6A63D033BF87.jpeg

And I can't be accused of not being a late breaker, it seems I've bent the backing on my ds1.11, tyres are also a bit blue so I've cooked them too. I should just calm the f**k down but it doesn't seem to be in my makeup.

68D555FC-0904-4372-9743-16C299CD2A58.jpeg

Ordered some 3M satin black vinyl to do the front, looks ok from this distance but it turns out wrapping is harder than it looks so I took it off again as close up it was s**t.
