Volvo 740 D24tic

People have their dream cars, the GTRs, the lambos, the ferraris but ever since I got into volvos this has been the one that I wanted.

I normally wouldn’t have bought this as
I’ve got two other volvos at the moment but they’re getting rare and with the sale of the forester I had somewhere to keep it.

I have always loved the early flat front 740s and love the sound of the 6 cylinder d24 so for me this was a perfect combo. The red velour interior was just a bonus.

It’s getting collected tomorrow and delivered on Saturday.

Here we go, Volvo 624 ✅

You change cars more than most of this forums members change pants :) although I can’t stop looking at your threads.
Think I need help.

If a 33-year old diesel Volvo is your dream car, then you definitely have issues 🤣

Fair play for your zero f***s given attitude though.

That looks incredibly 80's, a proper throw back.

Fair play for finding one that still looks almost all original!

Strange choice of wanking material tbh.

My parents had 3 740s. My most memorable moment was standing on the roadside with my mother with an AA man pouring about 8 litres of oil in the top of the engine, and it pouring out the bottom equally as quickly. Also being rear-ended by someone and their car being totally fucked and ours completely undamaged because they crashed into the tow bar. Good times.

It’s kind of like your volvo. Pretty meh to look at but has character.

For £2k ish it’s better than just buying a 10 year old focus

Driving a newer car is like going to the football and watching a nil - nil draw

Driving something like this is like watching 5 all thriller, the end result has the same outcome you just had more fun
Nice analogy, I'm keeping that one

Can someone tell my missus this?

She's talking about buying some yawntastic A3 just because her friend's parents are selling it and it has 4 doors

FFS!

Funny analogy, but I'm not sure an old Volvo diesel is 'fun'. Retro cool yeah sure, but I think a 10yr old Focus would a better car to drive in every way. I do like Volvo's though don't get me wrong, I've been in quite a few and always liked them.

Love the interior. As much as a like an FSTi, this does have a lot of charm.
I will also be using the football analogy evertime one of my colleagues asks why I've bought an unsuitable 10 year old performance car when i could have got a new diesel audi on PCP.

Been out for a bit of a cruise in the smoker and she drives nice. Some of the welding repairs are a little ‘agricultural’ but it’s a 32yr old car so I guess you’ve got to expect it.
