Power Tool Perverts

@Touring_Rob Turn down the o/d using the rotary table? Dont see why it wont work, should be rigid enough with conventional milling?

I think I did what you want to do for my bridgeport draw bar socket. I had to turn down the drawbar to be able to thread the bt30 tooling which sunk the bar into the machine too much.

Yes thats it!

Just wasn't sure if the end cutter would be happy with me rotating the table while noshing bits out of it :ROFLMAO:
Posh t***s, use a grinder like the rest of us peasants!!

Well yea, thats plan B haha.

As I've said to @Paulie031 I am making this unnecessarily complicated and could just cut it in half and butt weld the tube in. But the mill is there, as it the rotary table and I feel obliged to use as many tools as possible to complete this slightly pointless task :ROFLMAO:

PS this is to make a socket so I can remove the diff from the Clio box. The socket I bought isn't deep enough and deep 50mm sockets are annoying to buy. I have a socket and some tube.

I did actually buy two deep sockets online and both had to be imported because the companies didn't keep stock and couldn't tell me when they would arrive :(

My Milwaukee batteries are starting to fail at 10 years, sad times.

I hope the cs massive will be updating the latest red battery deals as they come up..

Two 5ah for £80 would be perfect.

Need to get some new grinder blades for metal. Anyone tried these diamond type instead of the usual ones?

Metal Cutter GRAFF Black Cut Off Wheels 115mm - Diamond Metal Cutting Disc for Angle Grinder - 60x Longer Wheel Life https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07V4DGRT4/?tag=cliospnet01-21
I just buy any old shizzle…

I watched a YouTube video where they shows poor cutting technique kills blades. You have to run it along the surface or plunge cut on the longer surface edge, letting the blade do the work.

ramming it on the edge cuts faster but burns the blades out 100 times fast or more.

find the video, you won’t care about blade quality unless you’re a pro cutter.

I’m guilty of being a cnut and just slash sh1t up with 40 discs a cut.

The LoveYourhome eBay deal on the last few days left a few decent prices available.

Just over £80 for two 18v 4ah makita batteries was hard to resist.. then the makita charger for £17 felt almost free. When I’ve had chargers die, they’re £49,99. 😵‍💫

Sgs have milwaukee 18v 4ah for £39 a pop so might grab 2 as it seems fair.

Have I missed the boat on the makita batteries?

I think so.. mine were £41.22 each.

ffx are doing £52 with £4.16 off, so a couple of quid more per one.

I do feel like that extra few quid off makes it sweeter.. I got them as spares for home as I have makita strimmer, 2 long and short hedge trimmers, blower, radio and a tyre inflator..

Screwfix are doing a cordless Combi drill with 2 5ah and charger and case for £170.
Last time it was £140 so just bought that and sold the drill charger and case for £70. Makes for cheap batteries!

that’s super cheap… I’ve been cunning in the past, I got a new 4ah impact & drill kit combo, then sold my heavily used for way more than I deserved.. I haven’t sold on eBay since the changes and selling local will be painful, so just looking to buy.

I have a few power tools to flog but I’d sooner throw them in a lake than deal with marketplace. 😫

Kidding, they are loads of money - I just assumed they would do angle too 🤦‍♂️

Unless I'm missing it in the specs, I looked at one when they first came out, would much rather have the Snap On for £500 just to have the angle setting.

I got the snap on… you’d be surprised at how much abuse an original cam stud on a 182 can take… but a new one can’t.
The snap on wrench solves the (I don’t have the angle setting) guess work out of it.

lot of money, but so is introducing your valves to your pistons.

Snap on techangle is one of the best tools ive bought.

I could do with a 1/2 click type torque wrench for wheels and that as my old britool is getting a bit long in the teeth. Thinking halfords one

I have the Halfords one and it's really good. Sounds daft but even the case is really nice and makes storage and getting it out a pleasure

I have a halfords 3/8 one and agreed its spot on for the money with the tube case. Might invest in 1/2 and 1/4 for them small fiddly jobs

This Milwaukee s**t is getting out of hand.

January I asked about the drill and driver…

Now I have:-

Drill
Driver
1/2” M18 impact
1/2 M12 Stubby
Tyre/Air Pump
M18 angle grinder
Packout impact socket set

But massive improvement over the cheap tools I used to buy that let me down…
