Ordered the 2C Pro Eufy Kit.

Only just put it up so no clue how good it'll be come night etc.

Have you not put one nearer the cars or front door?

I might get another cam for the other corner on the front but it was mainly a purchase to deter whoever on a couple of occasions has thrown their dog poo bag into our front lawn.

Looking good picture wise, semi tempted to get some myself but put off by getting a battery unit, how you finding them?

Yeah happy with the imaging for a simple battery camera.

Pretty sure the battery 'should' last 6 months and from memory they only take 4 hours to fully recharge so hardly an issue in my eyes.

Just took a screenshot and my street is fairly dark.

lots of break in round my way at the moment so im going to upgrade one of my ten year old 2mp hikvision cameras.

my main camera is this and its ace, quality is amazing

do i get another or is there an updated model? theres a million cameras listed on the hikvision site so impossible to tell
I've got this which is newer, the quality at night is quite frankly kind boggling 😂 I'd go for colourvu over dark fighter any day of the week

Mine as from right now (23:25)

This looks awesome..

Just to clarify for someone looking to get a first security camera set up please..
No hardworking or mains connection is needed?
Other than connecting up somehow to a phone nothing else is needed?

That quality is amazing for the price if so

I think they need wiring into a networked video recorder device, so more bits need to be bought

These cameras are POE (power over Ethernet) so you'll have to run an ethernet cable from the camera back to an NVR (network video recorder) in order to supply power, save the video data and stream to your phone.

Whilst they are clearly brilliant quality, very good if the worst happens and someone is trying to break in etc the cost quickly racks up, and the effort to install is much higher than something like @Coby. has above.

I've had POE before once set up you can simply forget about it which is brilliant, it did take a full day to get them installed and do a rough run on the cables and then a further day to tidy them up. Of course you can go to the lengths that @dann2707 has and use trunking to run the cables which will of course take longer to do but looks much better.

No bud, it's all done within the camera. Colourvu is basically just "full colour even at night"
Where as dark fighter still uses infrared and you get it looking a bit dark still.

As Matt touched on, unfortunately you can't just run this by itself as you need to run a cable to a box (nvr) which needs to be plugged in at all times

Said nvr then has to be plugged in to your router in order for you to be able to view it on your phone.

The nvr's can be as cheap or expensive as you like really and they go up in price dependent on how many cameras they allow to be plugged in. I went for an nvr that has 16 ports on the back which allows me to add 12 more cameras in the future should I want to. But you can get ones that allow 4 cameras etc.

It totally depends on budget and if you think you'll be living at the place for long lol. I knew we would be here for a while so invested pretty early and now it's fit and forget. It's so good for when you're away from the house!

Ordered from this link last night and they have just refunded me, no reasoning at all. And companies wonder why everyone uses amazon!

I'm still tempted to get a set up for home, and would certainly want those colourVu. I reckon a 4 cam set up with NVR, cables etc, we're looking at £1100.00-ish? Then just have to install myself

can anyone recommend a cheap battery powered camera. My dog keeps tripping the house alarm and I can't work out how he's doing it.

I want a camera that I can leave recording so once the alarm goes off, I can watch it back and see what the little prick has done to set it off.

Depending on Camera spec maybe a touch more. Had my hikvision setup for years and love it, way better quality than my neighbours setup. Once setup you never have to touch it, very reliable

Mine was way cheaper, around 800 for 4 cameras and the best nvr I could get within my budget but I was kindly gifted the hard drives which obviously reduced the costs

How do you all work out positioning? I know its a stupid question but its something that very easily escalates to 'cameras f**king everywhere' which I dont really want!

An example is the side of my house, do I want a camera overlooking the access to the side, or do I want it halfway down to cover the side door? Or both?

Always better to position them on corners to reduce blind spots.

On the Side of a house for example I usually install one on the front corner looking down to the back of the property and one on on the back corner looking to the front of the property,

house layout and size dependant of course, I’ll be installing some on my own house shortly but with the side of my house being short with a detached garage I’ll just position one looking at the garage as the camera I’ll put on the front will cover the majority of it

Good earth, screenshot your house and then go on paint and draw some lines that match the peripheral angle of the cameras. Each camera will have a different viewing angle, I went for the widest so I needed less cams.

That will give you an idea on the viewing angle and what you'll capture with that specific camera.

I absolutely love the attention to detail you go into.

When I fitted mine I literally went up a ladder drilled the holes fitted the camera and worried about coverage after by tilting the camera etc 🤣🤣

You need to assign the new camera the correct ip name by opening the camera settings directly.

It will be given a random ip address when you plugged it in.

I can see you have a camera ending in. .2

But on your camera list there isn't that end with that number

They do match I just took the photos at different times. One before deleting camera one after re adding.

The ip addresses do match

oh hikvision... such a wanker!

so ive relocated my dark fighter, works fine on the NVR but nothing on the app. it just says offline.
restarted NVR, deleted old camera and re-added dark fighter. deleted NVR from app and re added and it just says camera offline.

no idea how to resolve that.

Not sure on the connectivity issues.

That camera is upside down btw, not sure if you knew just letting you know.

Not sure why you need the cover tbh! Not had one time where I've had rain on the lense in 8 months on all 4 cams

No worries, I'll have to ask on cctv forum.

It is indeed upside down, I've flipped the image.

The previous camera in that same location suffered from rain on lens issues, picture was crap. So hoping the cover will offer a bit of protection, also given the price of the cameras it will just make em last longer
