Didn't realize I abandoned this thread here probably time for an update cars running driving taxed motd etc for a while now mostly trouble free other than it cracking a front arch 😭 I had it mapped at efi (as if there was anywhere else) made a healthy linear 189.6 bhp only the 2 inch exhaust holding it back since being on the road it's done 1800 trouble free miles and I'm quite enjoying it n/a 😂

Congrats for the project, nice results.
I have a question about suspension, have you used the clio 2 wishbones, hub and dampers?

Found a few pictures from back when I Williams replica'd it nearly 15 years ago and the Williams 3 that I broke to do it.

Recently I've been thinking alot about this car and I've decided it's time for a big change. I know I've only just built it but Ive come to the decision that it's all coming back apart I've got so much to change watch this space

Well the rebuild has begun I've pulled the engine out subframe off ditched the Williams seats seat belts dash I'm fitting the OEM seats and dash. I've removed the entire loom too it was a little sad pulling something apart that works so well but it's the right thing to do

Returning a few bits to standard there was no real need to to upgrade the master cylinder to a 172 cup item so its gone replaced with standard and standard brake lines and even the little foam bit that covers the servo.

I've removed the Williams seats, seat belts and dials, the seats and dials will be replaced with standard items but the seat belts I've had re webbed in yellow 😍

If I seems like the engine just turned up like I didn't build it yes that's the case .I recently purchased a mk1 with this engine already in running driving forged mapped etc supposedly runs 350 bhp so in theory after a little tidying and refining it should just bolt in and drive happy days.

The donor car cost a fair bit but I'm going to try my hardest to break even on it here it is below it used to be a well known car back in the day .

After a few more long evenings and all of today I finally got it running I had to put a live to the starter to get it to go for some reason but it goes and sounds very healthy .

I'm chuffed with how professional the charge cooler and super fat rad look there all neat and snug .

Everything is all together now just need to make a little bracket and bleed the brakes hopefully all is well

So I got the brakes bled and the door cards stuck on after changing the entire loom it turns out the one I fitted has the central locking wiring missing do after changing it last minute Saturday I now have fully working alarm and remote central locking

I've been enjoying it as much as I can however the savageness of the paddle clutch kinda spoils the car so I'll be taking it back apart over the weekend to fit a longer clutch fork hopefully this will mate it a bit easier to drive

So the basic spec is a BB tunning turbo conversion modified for high boost

GT2876R turbo
Vxr injectors
Omex ECU and loom
Fully forged
Charge cooler
Triple core rad

During mapping it made 306 bhp and 274 lbft I'll be getting that checked very soon

  197 clio 16v
So after just a few short days on the road it's back in bits popped a core plug out that could be a sign of a cracked block pressurising the coolant system but I really hope not anyway I'll put it back together with a new one 🤞 give me a good opportunity to change the clutch fork for the longer 172 item to give it a bit more driveability sorry about the awful picture quality

After an exceptionally busy three months of being back in the uk I finally found time to start work on the turbo valver I started with the wiring loom. I was never happy with the loom it is extremely messy and bulky essentially two looms cable tied together badly . So the plan is to strip it right back loose everything I don’t need keep everything I do repair and modify accordingly.

Finally got round to getting the turbo off should have done it weeks ago really but no matter it’s been sent off for a rebuild

After removing the turbo I started the process of removing the engine something it pains me to do but it needs a replacement gearbox and a cambelt so makes sense also it will make the removal of the god awful power steering much easier.

I’m hoping to get this running and driving by the end of the month ready for a map at efi so I can use it again as much as possible before I go travelling again

So the engine is out

I then set about removing the power steering I’m replacing it with Volvo mountings no idea why I even fitted the power steering to be honest

Then I removed the old box and fitted a new box I’m hoping this box should at least last the rest of the year before I can afford the box I want

We’ll mapping didn’t go that well after suspected fueling issues the car won’t idle or map properly but we reached the limit of the charge cooler witch is about 280bhp 16 psi

I thought is was injectors so replaced them and no change I’m going to try a fuel pressure regulator next and see what that does

Seen as I’ve been blessed with time now it’ll be getting a intercooler too

Sounds well, bet it goes well enough at 280hp.

You do right getting the chargecooler gone. It looks similar to pace r5gtt chargecooler core that was available years ago, didnt work well. Stick a ching spec bar and plate intercooler on they perform great, at a 1/4 of the cost of a branded cooler.

@Brigsy it is the same pace charge cooler, BBPT spec setup this same as mine was. I never had flow issues with the cooler and the very short boost circuit was decent for response etc, however it just didn't cool well enough for anything more than the occasional 1/4 mile squirt or dual carriageway blast. Soon as tried to track the car with that setup it fell apart

@Coops Mk1 Yep i thought it was the same core/cooler as can remember bb tuning re using the gtt bits on the f7r back in the day. Crap really the cores used to split, pumps fail etc.

As said I never had a single issue with mine other than overall efficiency wasn't up to the job on track
