You’re going to get a knock on the door from Operation Yewtree officers any day now…

I absolutely love this! It’s awesome, and I’m really jealous of it! Love a bit of Americana. my only complaint is that I couldn’t hear country music blaring on the drive by video?!

So my American car experience may be coming to an end. The engine is breathing heavily, I have tried to change as much as I can but think it’s probably worn piston rings which I cannot unfortunately afford to fix.

So, I’ve pulled my pants down, lubed up and put it up for sale for £3k less than I paid for it. I’m sure someone with mechanical knowledge and tools etc could turn it round a bit chEaper and make a profit.

I’ve bought a few cars blind but actually put more effort into buying this one - spoke to the guy at length and he seemed really genuine, sent photos and vids etc but in the end it’s sold as seen and my fault for not going and test driving it.

Anyways, it’s better to have loved and lost etc etc

If it doesn’t sell I’ll just have to wait for a relative to die and pay for it fixing.

Didn't wanna try a touch of ATF down the bores? Maybe the rings are just sludged up and not the bore walls scratched?

This is probably too late, but it doesn’t have an oil catch can on it does it? I thought I’d blown the Clio up and it was just the hose to the tank had melted/blocked and that was making it throw mountains of blue smoke and pressure through the oil filler cap. Unplugged said can, life was happy.

It’s got a PCV system on it so same thing. That’s what I thought originally but the compression test results told a different story.

Gutted for you to be honest. The block looks pretty much freshly painted in the pics too, and to do a job like that it’d have to have been pulled. Surely they wouldn’t have lugged out a shagged engine to paint it and then refit it. Such a shame 🙁

Yeah, I loved driving it. Pretty gutted but if you buy and sell enough you’re gonna get bummed at some point.

They could have given it a dingle-ball rebuild, when it really needed a rebore.

or they flattened the cam after the rebuild, and fucked the bores in the process.
