It was an air leak, I hadn't lined the inlet mani up correctly and some bolts had wiggled loose! Cheers lads.

Just changed the HT leads over, charged up the battery and dropped it back in. Car now turns over, but it's idling at about 2.5k? All I've done is swap over HT leads, nothing else.

You can, yes. Oiling up the insert, and using air to blow out the remaining swarfs, obviously not without it's risks. But as others have said, it's not a major risk. I'd buy another head rather than whip it all off to be done personally.

HT leads arrived this morning, and the cars being trailered later to a garage. It's happening, the Clio's being fixed Wooooo!

A little kind on the power, but not far off, the majority of ITB'd cars make around 155-160 without headwork. But still, with 140bhp (roughly) and weighing around 900 with a few bits dropped they go well. Mines just shy of 860kg's, hoping by Summer time I'll have a nice 150bhp lump to play with...
