Thanks chaps, I'm beginning to worry about this now. Great if it's a good job at that price, less good if it comes back looking more of a harlequin than it does already.
Yeah seems pretty good to me and he has come recommended to me by a friend who's used him but I'll question him as to whether that is a bumper off job rather than a dodgy masking up effort.
I've been thinking of having my flame red 172 tidied up had a quote of £500 to have my front bumper, bonnet and wings as well as the cup spoiler resprayed. Does this sound a realistic amount for this kind of work?
Took the flamer out for a drive to a local National Trust place and an ice cream, it decided it wouldn't be fair to have an event free drive so threw a P0120 fault code and momentarily a bit of limp mode. Limp soon cleared after the usual ignition off/on trick but the EML light is still on, any...
Insured the flamer - £140!! Bargain, then went to tax it - already taxed, not a bargain!! This means when I tried to SORN it in at the end of last year it obviously didn't process. 😭
The leak from my gear box selector seal has become ridiculous, I cant decide whether to buy a good secondhand box and swap it, get it out and repaired or wait for it to go pop. The latter will take a long time as I barely drive it but the trails it is leaving on my drive is getting annoying.

Impressive repairs once again Dave! I did a mini underside restoration on my 172, knotted wheel followed by Hydrate80, electric and then a few good coats of BH Dynax UB. That was last year but I've noticed patches where rust is coming through again this year, not very happy about it.
Not really today but this week I refitted my exhaust with centre silencer and new Ebay cat then bled the new front braided brake lines. Dropped it back on the floor for the first time in weeks, turned the key and it started straight away after nigh on 2 months. Happy with that!
I think I will grind it out with my dremel, cant believe I've had two in a row. Good news is that BM catalysts have acknowledged the fault and are sending out a third prior to checking it over.
I know, I know, everyones going to say but why did you sell a perfectly good cat and replace it with this shite but I want to highlight the poor quality of BM Catalysts. This is the replacement for one which had the same issue as well as weld splatter in the lambda thread which destroyed a...
As my youngest son would say 'Today was a bad day!'
Got my cheapo cat delivered so set about fitting it, pre-cat lambda fitted, post-cat not so straightforward. The threaded union on the cat had been welded on misaligned to the hole in the pipe meaning it fouled the tip of the sensor. I...
