Colesy track car build again 172

Thinking out loud this but bare with me. I’ve got a pms lightweight pulley on an alternator, do you think I could fit it to my cup alternator and run a 4pk848 belt in replacement for the 5pk847? Would it work, any downside?

Jury’s out yet to be honest. My heart says yes to keeping both but my head says one will have to go. But we’ll see how it goes

Colesy track car build again 172

That’s good to know thank you!! It really was, and disheartening when I’d just had it mapped to then drip oil everywhere. When the turbo eventually comes up to my house I shall start another thread. It’s currently my dads but I’m having it off him as he’s retiring to the coast, and he blew the...

Not sure anyone reads this thread anymore but I shall carry it on all the same 😃 Finally after 3 months it’s oil leak free. After initially thinking it was the sealant filled main cap leaking it was actually the sump gasket. All sorted now though! Now the engine side of things is sorted I can...

Colesy track car build again 172

So after a couple of months of having absolutely no motivation to get the Clio back together due to an oil leak, the engine is finally back in and touch wood oil leak free so far! Still some little bits to sort out, but hoping to get out on track later this year (cheap winter track days ftw😝)...

    Standard 172 Cup - 195/45 R16 Tyres

If you want a ‘budget’ tyre I’d recommend the TR1 far better than the outgoing t1r, plenty of grip in the wet and dry. But if budget isn’t an issue Pilot sport 4 all day long

    Engine building, timing, upgrades etc

EFI was 4 hours for me each way and I’m so glad I did it. Admittedly i am lucky to be in the position of a tow car/trailer though

    Engine building, timing, upgrades etc

I’d def be trying to get it to EFI, I could’ve taken mine to ktec but don’t like the fact they get RS tuning to write the maps. At least with Chris he’s doing that in front of you

I’m assuming I may have a non cup radiator? It just doesn’t fit lol

    Abingdon

If you drove like all the time on a ‘proper’ track I doubt you’d make it past 10am before being black flagged. And tuition isn’t just to ‘make you Lewis Hamilton‘ it’s to make you safer and quicker for yourself and the people you’re sharing the track with.

They’re is a strong possibility I was being a r****d!! I’ll give it another look at some point

    Direnza Radiators

Sorry for the thread revival but how does the fan mount to one of these rads? I can’t for the life of me work it out, unless I need to order some extra hardware to fit it?

Colesy track car build again 172

Anybody got any tips for installing the rear main seal? Mine started leaking after driving on the road for the first time, so it’s all apart again awaiting a new seal.

    Cheap Buckets and back pain?

I will have 2x sparco sprint seats for sale in the next week already mounted on OMP frames. From memory they’re also on sliding rails. Looking for around £350. If interested pm me and I’ll get some pics sorted and over to you. (They’re at my dads)

    Engine building, timing, upgrades etc

Should make decent power, mine with 182 manifold RS inlets (not matched) 197 injectors ktec induction and group n made 185hp and 170lbft torque

    MSV/Caged owners

Yeah it does need spacers. I can’t remember what size they were when I had mine but they were pretty chunky!

Colesy track car build again 172

And the results are in, 185bhp (well 184.9😅) and 170lbft of torque! Bit of a fraught day in the end though, Chris got a it on the rollers and it immediately cut out. Long story short the lambda sensor wiring melted and shorted on the exhaust. Not too much of an issue as he deleted the sensor out...

So a little update. Roll cage is now fitted and looking good. Need to get a harness bar welded into it soon but will worry about that another day. After what feels like an eternity it’s mapping day tomorrow!! Excited to see what she makes on EFI’s dyno, but drive ability is far more important...
