Getting the 'mint' white set resprayed red and these will become my track wheels
RC6 pads are what I am currently running mate (I really rate them too) and will continue using for track work- ring trips etc. I plan on running something a little less aggressive to try and keep my new...
June/ July 2016- 155k update.
As I mention in my last update, during and after the 'Ring trip I had a misfire issue. So I booked the car into Rentech for Mike to give it a good check over and had the following replaced:
TDC sensor
Both lower front anti roll bar bushes
Power steering pressure...
My track car is road legal, but I plan on getting a trailer soon mainly for 'Ring trips and uk track days, even then I'll keep my 172 road legal as it makes testing parts and different setups easier if the car is still road legal.
I don't actually fine mine that 'fun' to drive, sure it's fairly quick ( 99% sure the previous owner remapped it) and great for motorway miles etc, but I have/ never would just take it out for a B road blast.
Great cars, we've had ours for 5.5 years now. Once moving it's quick, and is great on fuel and very cheap to run, probably the best car I have owned to date.
The only time I noticed my pads moving around the caliper is when I reserve slowly and apply the brakes lightly. Yes they squeal and will probably get louder once they have a few heat cycles though them, and the dust will ruin wheels, remember these are a track/ race pad.
The R26.R was sold at a bad time, just as last recession hit IIRC. The mini GP didn't come with rear seats and that sold well. I personally would rather the new Clio RS 16 didn't have rear seats.
Some engines are weaker than others, my 172 is now on 155k and I give it hell on track/ 'ring but service it regularly etc..and it still makes 174.5bhp (Surrey Rolling Road)
Looks great, I would love one.
I personally hope it's made in limited numbers, as I think it'll be pretty much depreciation proof (much like the R26.R Megane Trophy R)
