The cars still on the trailer but Ally Hicklings old fur glass tailgate is on
New rear discs from @renaultpartsdirect came today, PBS helping out again with new pads, and I collect two near rear callipers tomorrow from CES
This is how I have to drive the Clio to get anywhere near the top of the class. For anyone who’s not into rallying. The mk2 escorts at the top of the class have 250/270bhp with sequential boxes. The Clio shouldn’t really get near them.
Little write up about the SMC stages last weekend.
Was going well all day. Only issues I had was with tyres in the morning. I had to go hard compound on the front in 10’C. Which is unheard of in rallying. The fiesta R5 I was sharing the garage with ran the same tyres as me but medium all day. I...
SMC Stage at Anglesey tomorrow.
Cars had a new hub and driveshaft. And instead of doing the tracking somewhere near by eye I took it to TunedUK for a set up. Great work by Rich. Would highly recommend anyone that needs suspension or geometry work to give them a call.
Hoping to take the...
First one snapped just putting a set of road wheels on before rolling road. And the one last weekend snapped in my hard when I put the socket on it to torque the wheels. Those 10.9 ones on ebay don’t look great from the inside where it’s snapped. Look more like cast than anything ?
Seeing as I’ve snapped 2 of the eBay mtec studs so far. I bit the bullet and bought some AI Tech studs from demon tweeks with copper nuts. I actually paid as much for these as I did for a full running 172. ? but hopefully I’ll not have issues with these. I’m going to keep the mtec ones in the...
So it was The Agbo Stages on Sunday. Never been there before but I think I’d watched every onboard on YouTube prior to the event. The goal was to be in the top 10 and be quickest fwd.
I had Rhys Edwards as a co driver who’s got a fair bit of experience. Something that’s been lacking on the...
Been a little quiet on here since the last rally as the car hasn’t t really needed anything but a check over.
After my class win last time out I managed to get in Pacenotes Rally Magazine
So it’s The Agbo Stages at Weston Park tomorrow.
Trying out a new set of hoosiers as these are...
SS6 of The Jack Neal Memorial
One of the best stage times of the day. 9th fastest overall with a joint time with the overall Class 4 winner and 6 seconds quicker than the competition in our class
Thanks mate. Feel like I’ve got to grips with it now. I know what it’s going to do when I put it into a corner. The quick rack has definitely helped too
Thanks John, I’ve just edited that post with a link to one of the stages. We were pushing mind.
If you look Peter Smiths escort which is one of the ultimate escorts in the country wasn’t much quicker on each stage and that’s almost a £100k car
Yesterday at The Jack Neal Memorial Rally couldn’t of gone better. 1st in class and 10th overall against some very competitive cars worth a hell of a lot more than the Clio. Fair play to @NorthloopCup for the gearbox build. It’s now done a full day at Anglesey testing and a whole rally with no...
I have 3 sets of speedline 2118’s. All different offset. 38, 40 and 43. None of them rub on the coilover ??♂️
I don’t know if it’s placebo effect but I’ve tried spacers on mine testing back to back and I find the car handles worse with 16mm spacers. Seems to push on more
Fitted the little pms bracket for the throttle bodies tonight. Even though their kit is jenvey I had to grind a little notch out to get it to fit around my manifold.
Very fiddly job as it gets spaced with washers behind the bracket to manifold. So trying to get them in, then the bolt without...
It’s from pms off there throttle body kit.
I think it will work. Only one way to find out.
If it doesn’t I’ve already got one mount for when I eventually buy a sadev myself.
Or buy a ph1 mount. As it’s similar
Yeah I could buy the pms one but it’s not the strongest on the dogbone piece. It’s got bits cut out the middle to reduce weight. A friend of mine snapped his.
optimiz access do a solid dog bone, but with anything holomagated rally it’s not cheap
I’ve also ordered this which I know you’d like...
So as usual like any week before a rally it’s a mad rush to sort everything and tie up some loose ends
I’ve had a little issue with the plug in number 2 coming loose. Put a new set in with new leads and so far so good. Did 30 road miles yesterday with no issues.
I’ve also fitted a new...
It’s very odd. According to the rules 90% of the crews you’ll see on single venues will be using rally tyres that are not on any list.
I’ve noticed a lot of them are now E marked too. Where as the older stuff wasn’t
